RMT Elizabeth Registered Massage Therapist I have owned my practice within the Stinson Community for over 2 years now and am loving it!

My name is Elizabeth Den Hollander and I am a registered massage therapist (RMT) registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. In April 2014 I graduated with honors from Georgian College where in my second year I received 2 scholarships that funded my 10 day medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic in May of 2013. I was proactive during my 3 years at Georgian College, I was involved with the student advisory council helping with student focused events and I became a tutor for anatomy, pathology and physiology courses. The Georgian College massage therapy program offered 4 semesters of the 6 semester program in clinic and outreach programs where we gained experience in sporting injures, pregnancy, complex care, palliative care, fibromyalgia and arthritis. I am always looking to improve and gain more experience, so I recently became ART (active release technique) certified to help better myself as a manual therapist. I am currently working at two clinics, I'm starting my own practice as well as working at a physiotherapy clinic to have a more inter-professional work environment. I am dedicated to helping my patients improve their health by using a wide range of treatment options and remedial exercise regimes. THANKS FOR "LIKING" ME AND BOOK IN TODAY!

Our messy middle 🫣

Renovations are in FULL swing! We are in the big push to get the space ready to open- walls are getting primed, we’re picking paint colours, wall paper and flooring! The space is suddenly VERY white while we try to figure out exactly how we’re going to make all of our ideas work in a space with 10 treatment rooms, 3 bathrooms, a staff room… and all the other little details that come with it.

It’s exciting. It’s overwhelming. It’s a lot of decisions. 😂

In the middle of all of this, my friend and cheerleader Erika from Erika Matko | Hamilton Event Photographer wanted to come in to capture the in-between!

I didn’t even think this stage was photo worthy. We really only think to really document a space or maybe even ourselves once we’re feeling ready and perfect !

But there’s something really special about having photos of the messy middle, too. I know I will deeply cherish these pictures as such a wild little phase of our collectives first chapter !

Erika is so deeply good at letting people show up exactly as they are. You don’t have to be perfectly polished or have everything figured out before your story is worth telling. She has this way of making space for the in-between, and I’m really grateful she got to capture this little chapter of our very messy overwhelming middle 🤍

So here we are… in the in between still trying to get our footings but gosh these photos make it look graceful and fun too hehe! I’m going to remember this time as the beginning of this next big scary wild chapter 💛💛💛

Cheers to 12 years as a registered massage therapist !! 💜

I am running out of fingers as the years keep passing, though it feels quite fitting to need an extra hand. I really couldn’t have done it all without the support and care of my people!!

Over the last 12 years, my practice has taken me through so many different settings, experiences and seasons. I’ve learned so much about myself, about how to care for others, and about what it means to build a life around wellness.

I feel so grateful that I followed in the handprints of my mom- I often feel her with me throughout my work days when I look at my hands that look exactly like hers. I’m also lucky enough to still treat some of her clients which is pretty incredible that these relationships have now been part of our family’s care for 25 years.

Over the last 3 years opening and growing Painted Brick Wellness has been such an honour. It’s been really special getting to practise within a collective and alongside so many incredible practitioners. I love that we get to share a space, collaborate, learn from each other, refer clients to one another and bring different kinds of care together under one roof. There’s something really special about not having to do it all on your own.

And we’re growing again !!

We’re growing into a L arger space, more room, more practitioners, more modalities and so many possibilities for what we can create together!!

I’m so excited to keep growing this wellness community in Hamilton and beyond thrilled to see what the next year brings. Build it and they will come!! Cheers to another incredible year ahead !!

Last week I celebrated my birthday in PEI ❤️🦞

We took a little road trip to the East Coast, spent the week exploring, deeply resting, and enjoying time with all my friends who have moved east!

I always struggle leaving from vacations. I just want the novel fun to never stop!! SO coming home Saturday night and walking straight into a surprise birthday party was about the sweetest welcome home I could ever imagine 🥹

I truly had no idea. I had just gotten back from our flight (we left our van behind and our friends are bringing it back, so that was even a weird FAST departure after taking days to arrive). I was feeling a bit discombobulated, and then suddenly there were so many of my favourite people all welcoming me home and ready to celebrate!

I’ve never had a surprise birthday before, and it was so special to see so many of my beautiful friends from different parts of my life all together. I love that my friends all become friends and fit together so beautifully. They’re all just the loveliest, most caring humans and I couldn’t feel more grateful.

After a beautiful week away, to come home and immediately feel so loved was pretty incredible.

I couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome home. 💛

I’m back to work and back to renovations with a VERY full heart and an overflowing cup. ✨

Oh hello friends! 🤍

Many of you might know me as RMT Elizabeth, and while I love holding that role, I am also so many things all wrapped up in one!

I host and hike lead Outdoorsy Pals. I spend lots of time enjoying my extracurriculars, whether that’s sports or crafts. I love exploring. I am a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend and a puppy mom!! I love trying new things and will always say yes to an adventure!

I have a busy life, but it’s the kind of busy I’m really so grateful for!!

One thing I’ve learned over the years of running my own business is that I really value balance. I truly find both work and play to be gifts, and I feel so lucky to have a life filled with so many things I love!

In order to keep all of the moving pieces organized, having the right systems in place makes such a difference. Having Jane help keep everything behind the scenes organized gives me the freedom to not have to worry, knowing everything is being handled!

Because I don’t really want less on my plate. I just want to have a really good way of carrying it all!!! 🤍

We always get lots of love for our space and we created it with such deep intention!

We wanted to create a space that feels cozy, safe and an ease for our nervous system. We want you to be able to take a breath, settle in and feel a little more at ease in your body while you’re in our care !

We put so much thought into every corner and every piece has a story. Vintage finds, market pickups, family heirlooms, pieces collected on travels and little treasures collected along the way!!

We believe the spaces we spend time in matter. And we hope when you walk through our doors, you feel all the goodness we’ve put into it 💛✨

One of our favourite Jane App features? The waitlist 🩵

If you’re looking for an appointment and don’t see a time that works, add yourself to the waitlist!

It’s actually so helpful for us behind the scenes because it lets us know when there’s more demand than our current availability can accommodate. If we notice our waitlist growing, it helps us make decisions around adjusting hours, adding availability, or even bringing new practitioners into the collective.

And because life happens, appointments get rescheduled and spots open up all the time. If you’re on the waitlist, you’ll be notified when something becomes available that matches what you’re looking for.

Jaw pain let’s talk about it!

In February Zoë Laberto and I took the course training from Jules at From the Neck Up | RMT Clinic to learn the skills to help our clients with jaw dysfunction. We have been helping our clients reduce pain, improve mobility, and ease muscle tension. We also believe it’s important to look beyond the symptoms and ask why they’re happening in the first place.

For some people, breathing patterns, tongue posture, swallowing habits, and oral muscle function can play a role in jaw tension and dysfunction. That’s why having a myofunctional therapist (MyoCare Solutions) as part of our team is so valuable.

We also have an osteopathic manual therapist (Michelle Smith 📍Hamilton, ON Osteopathy) on our team, and osteopathic treatment can be another valuable piece of the puzzle. By assessing the body as a whole, it can help address restrictions and imbalances that may be contributing to jaw dysfunction, including through the cervical spine and the surrounding structures that work together with the jaw. When concerns around jaw function and airway are present, having a collaborative team means we can help guide you toward the care that’s most appropriate for your unique needs.

My goal has always been to empower clients, no matter what brings them through the door. Soft tissue treatment can be incredibly helpful for relieving pain, improving mobility, and allowing the jaw to function more comfortably. At the same time, I want to help clients better understand their bodies and recognize when other patterns may be contributing to their symptoms. Sometimes that means exploring additional forms of support as part of a collaborative approach. The more we understand what’s contributing to our symptoms, the more empowered we are to make informed choices about our care.

So if you’ve been living with jaw pain, clenching, tension, or other TMJ symptoms, let’s start a conversation. Together, we can explore what might be contributing to your symptoms, help you better understand your body, and find the care routine that’s the best fit for you!

SO what’s new with Jane? 👀✨

Jane is always rolling out helpful new features, but sometimes it can be hard to keep up with it all.

That’s why I’m so excited for Jane’s “What’s New This Summer” event happening August 5th! It’s a chance to see what’s new, learn how the features work, and figure out which ones could actually be helpful to integrate into your practice.

I personally really love how functional Jane is on mobile, and the room tags have been such a simple but helpful addition for our clinic!!

I’m excited to see what they will be sharing next week! 👀

One of the biggest advantages I had when I started my practice wasn’t a business plan. It was having someone to ask.

When I became an RMT 12 years ago, my mom had already been in practice for 15 years. I had someone who had navigated the challenges before me, someone I could ask questions, bounce ideas off of, and learn from. I know what a gift that was 🤍

Over the years, one of the most meaningful parts of my career has been becoming that person for others. I’ve had the privilege of mentoring practitioners as they’ve started and grown their own businesses, and it’s reminded me how valuable it is to have guidance when you’re stepping into something new.

That’s why I love resources like Jane’s new Business Workbook. It gives you thoughtful questions to consider as you build your practice, whether you’re stepping into solo practice or opening a business fog any type!

The truth is, you’ll never know everything before you start. But having good people and good resources around you can make the journey feel a whole lot less overwhelming.
