BBQ season can come with crunchy, sticky, and chewy foods.
A few oral health reminders for summer meals:
Corn on the cob: If biting directly into the cob feels uncomfortable, or if you have braces, crowns, veneers, or other dental work, consider cutting the kernels off first.
Sticky sauces and sweet drinks: These can sit on the teeth between brushing. Drinking water with your meal can help rinse your mouth.
Ice, bones, skewers, and hard pits: Avoid biting or chewing on hard items, as they may increase the risk of chips, cracks, or damage to dental work.
Floss or interdental cleaners can also be helpful after meals when food gets caught between teeth. If you notice a chipped tooth, sensitivity, pain, or damage to dental work, contact us for guidance.
