~{A Trip Down Memory Lane}~

With re-opening day on the horizon, I want to take you all on the journey we've been on for the past year- yes a year! The news we had to relocate was given on July 10th, 2025!

Here is a look at our excavating challenges and some of our plumbing obstacles we had to overcome!

¤ A little reno insight ¤

Dont worry, this footage is old, the gym is much further along than this, but it took me a long time to make this video because I was scared of what people might think. Expectations, questions, uncertainty and fear, all of my own thoughts. I appologize for being absent during these times, and not updating you all as much as I should have. My commitment to you all is making sure I keep you guys informed as we are getting so close to the end, so you won't need to ask me, but you'll know.

Enjoy this morning in my shoes video I compiled and know this isn't all for me, it's for all of you, because you are all the strength I've needed during this time. Thank you for being patient, understanding and sticking with us! ♥️

Joan McDonald just celebrated her 80th birthday, and she's feeling stronger than ever 🥳

Believe it or not, Joan didn't start strength training until her 70s, saying: 'I was unfit and overweight'.

Feeling tired and stuck, she decided to get in the gym, unsure if she could change....and it was one of the best decisions she ever made!

Here are the factors that helped her take control.

It is with heavy heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearest Ken 🌹

Ken and his Wife, Mary, started at The Next Step in November 2010. Each individually working a trainer, consistently 3x a week, rarely ever missing a day. Over the years, Ken had the opportunity to work with many different trainers as they came and went but, he was always eager to get to know someone new. He was a kind, intelligent, generous, thoughtful, positive and silly man. Someone who loved with his whole heart.

Ken, you will be greatly missed. Thank you for always having been a constant in our lives. Your memory will live on through the stories you have told and the knowledge you have passed down for many years to come. ❤️

Our deepest sympathies to Mary and the family, whom, over the years, we have learned so much about and even got to meet.

May you rest peacefully 🌹

It is with heavy heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearest Ken.

Ken and is wife Mary have been clients of The Next Step since November 2010. Each working with a trainer 3x a week. Both we're very committed to the gym, rarely every missing a day. Ken had the opportunity to work with several different trainers over the years, always eager to getting to know someone new. Ken was a kind, smart, generous, friendly, positive and silly guy who loved with his whole heart. Anyone who had the chance to meet either of them know what we're talking about.

Ken, you will be greatly missed. You will forever hold a place in our hearts. Thank you for always having been a constant in our lives and being part of our gym family.

Our deepest condolences to Mary and her family whom we have learned so much about over the years and have had the pleasure to meet. May you rest peacefully

Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of his family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday March 28, 2026, at the age of 82 years.

It is with heavy heavy hearts that we announce the passing of long time member Ken.

Ken and his wife Mary keep a permanent place in our hearts. Anyone who had the chance to know them know exactly what we are talking about.

Ken and Mary started at The Next Step in November 2010, working with a trainer 3x a week. Both Ken & Mary always stayed committed but for Ken, no matter how many trainers came and went, he was always eager to work with someone new. Ken was smart, kind, generous, silly and loved with his whole heart, I know many can attest to that.

Our deepest condolences to Mary and her family whom we have learned so much about over the years and have had the pleasure to meet.

We are all going to miss you so much Ken. Thank you for being a constant in our lives over these past 15+ years. Your laughter, love and wisdom will live on for many years.
