Nearly five years later, grief can still arrive like a wave that takes your breath away.

Not because you’re going backwards.
Not because you haven’t “healed enough.”

But because grief continues to move through different chapters, memories, places, ages, milestones, and moments we never could have prepared for.

If you’ve found yourself suddenly back on your knees after thinking you were doing “better,” you are not failing. You are grieving someone deeply loved.

You are not alone 💛

Grief changes us.

It has the potential to make us feel more deeply. It amazes me that I can feel the force of grief taking me to my knees. Then in the next moment, I can be moved by the beauty of a still lake.🤍

Grief needs space, gentleness, and community.

And with only 2 spots remaining, this retreat is almost full.

From May 21–24, we’ll be gathering in Algonquin Park for a weekend of connection, reflection, rest, and support alongside others who understand profound loss.

Over three nights together, there will be nourishing meals, facilitated sessions, gentle embodied practices, fire circles, nature, and space to simply be exactly where you are.

If this has been sitting quietly on your heart, I encourage you to reach out before these final spaces are filled.

These past few days, we’ve been spending time with Kamila in places that meant something to her.

We spread some of her ashes in Woodstock, in the park where she used to play a place that holds pieces of her childhood and the life she lived there.

And we brought her to the ocean in St. Andrews, releasing her ashes at sunset… a moment that felt both heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.

There’s something about returning to these places with intention. It doesn’t take the grief away, but it can soften it, just enough to breathe.

Grief asks us to find new ways to stay connected.
To carry love in ways that look different than before.

And sometimes, that looks like standing by the water at sunset, feeling it all at once, the loss, the love, and everything in between 💛

We often think feeling better means feeling less.

But sometimes, it’s the opposite.

When we push down grief and sadness, we can also quiet our capacity to feel joy, connection, and meaning.

Learning to gently make space for what’s there can be part of finding your way forward 💛

A space that feels a little softer, a little quieter, and a little more removed from the noise of everyday life 🌿

For many, it makes it just a bit easier to open up, to breathe, and to be with what’s there.

If you’ve been looking for a space like this, you’re always welcome here 💛

What you say to someone in deep grief matters but maybe not in the way you think.

It’s not about having the perfect words. It’s about meeting them where they are.

It’s so common to hear “I can’t imagine what you’re going through” when someone is in deep grief. Though well-intentioned, it often falls short of offering real comfort. Grief is uniquely personal, and while others can’t fully grasp it, their empathy can still mean the world.

I invite you to imagine the pain of others. Not to burden yourself, but to foster understanding, gratitude, and presence. Life is precious, and expressing love to those who matter can make a world of difference.

There are places that hold pieces of the people we love.

For my daughter Kamila, one of those places was Shuswap Lake in BC a place filled with laughter, friendship, and one of her favourite memories. Time spent on a houseboat, celebrating with people she loved most.

So when the time came, her friends brought her back there. At sunset, on the water, they said goodbye in a way that felt connected to who she was.

Grief has a way of weaving together heartbreak and meaning like that where even the hardest moments are rooted in love.

And sometimes, being able to share those moments with others who understand makes all the difference 💛

If you’re looking for a space like that, send me a message 🌿
