🌻 Atlantic Canada MS Peer Support Group ZOOM Meeting 🌻

Welcome to our 1st online peer support meeting after the summer hiatus. Would you like to attend a support meeting but weren't sure if it was for you? Our meetings are confidential, non-judgemental and safe for all. We discuss a variety of topics. You could come and chat or you could sit back and hang out with us. Living with MS can be an incredibly lonely battle.

People may see us smile and think we're okay, but they don't feel what we feel inside. They don't understand the pain, exhaustion, brain fog, strange sensations, fear, or the mental and emotional battles we fight silently.

The hardest part is that no matter how much we try to explain it, we are often the only ones who truly know what is happening inside our own bodies.

We don't expect our families and partners to understand everything—sometimes we don't even understand what our own bodies are doing. But please… be patient with us. Believe us. Support us. Be gentle with us.

Because sometimes we don't need you to fix anything. We just need you to remind us that we don't have to fight every battle alone.

To everyone living with MS: I see you. I see the battles you fight silently. I see the strength it takes to keep going when your body and mind feel like they are working against you.

You are not weak for feeling overwhelmed. You are not dramatic for feeling emotional. You are not a burden because you need support.

You are human. You are fighting something that many people will never truly understand. 👣 ❤️ 👣

Everyone should have the right to fly ✈️

Air Canada is changing its policy for passengers who rely on mobility equipment.

Travellers with disabilities can now bring up to THREE mobility aids free of charge on their flight.

That can include wheelchairs, adaptive sports equipment, patient lifts and other transfer devices.

And if a mobility device is too large to fit on the same aircraft, Air Canada says it will transport it within Canada by cargo at no cost.

For many families, this could mean fewer difficult decisions about what equipment they can actually take with them.

It also comes as accessibility in Canadian air travel faces growing scrutiny.

Just last week, the country's transport regulator ordered WestJet to remove its 136-kilogram weight limit on mobility aids.

The regulator said the limit created an “undue barrier” for some travellers with disabilities.
That means Canada's airlines are now facing increasing pressure to make air travel work for people who use larger or specialized equipment.

For people who depend on mobility aids every day, these aren't simply pieces of luggage — they're essential equipment.

So the question is: Should every Canadian airline be required to offer the same level of accessibility?

And honestly, why shouldn't passengers with disabilities be able to travel with the equipment they need without having to fight for an exception?
