Weekly Physical Activity Guidelines ⛳️ ———————————————————————————
📚These guidelines are for all adults aged 18-64 years of age. To get the health benefits from engaging in physical activity it is recommended that you should get at least 150 minutes of moderate (or 75 minutes of vigorous) activity each week. This should be done in bouts of 10 minutes of longer at a time. Moderate intensity activities include things such as brisk walking or going out for an easy bike ride. Vigorous activities include running and swimming. ———————————————————————————
💪🏼It is also recommended that you add 2 days of week of strength training activities. This helps maintain bone mass and muscle strength which can be improtant in decreasing injury risk and the effects of aging. ———————————————————————————
🔑 Get active multiple times per week and you should meet these guidelines no problem. Doesn’t matter what you do, make something you enjoy and that will be enough!

☀️ Vitamin D
———————————————————————————
The sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D. Did you know that 90% of our Vit D is synthesised through exposure to sun. The further you live from the equator the less you are exposed to UVB light from the sun. This is especially the case in the winter when not only is the period of daylight shortened compaired to the summer months, but also most of your skin is covered to help protect against the cold. This means that our main source of Vitamin D production has been vastly deminished and you susceptibility to deficiency is increased. Vitamin D deficiency is known to be associated with many ailments and diseases including bone and muscle weakness, influenza, depression, anxiety, diabetes, and some types of cancers. The good news is Vitamin D supplements are cheap and have a low risk of toxicity when taking the recommended amount. Food sources of Vitamin D include fish, eggs, organ meats, and fortified dairy. If you are concerned with you Vitamin D levels chat with your doctor about getting your serum (blood) levels checked to see if supplementing is the right decision for you.

As we wrap up 2021 and people are starting to think about New Year goals, exercising more often is typically the top of the list. Keep in mind when setting some goals that the best exercise is the one which you will be willing to continue doing. So many of us get caught up in doing the perfect exercise or copying what someone else does, however, this is not necessary. What is necessary is finding an exercise which you can consistently participate in and which you enjoy doing. If you enjoy walking your dog, walk your dog. If you enjoy payling tennis, play tennis. Etc, etc, etc. The best exercise for you may not be the best exercise for someone else. ———————————————————————————
🔑 Do whatever exercise works for you and you will benefit
