Alcoholism can severely and negatively impact an individual’s personal, professional, social, and financial life. Unfortunately, alcoholism doesn’t just impact the alcoholic. It can also cause crippling effects on the alcoholic’s loved ones, especially their children.

On Thursday August 11th we celebrated the Feast of St. Clare, one of Charms patron Saints. 🕊

Did you know?! 👇🏼

Clare was canonized on September 26th, 1255 by Pope Alexander IV, and her feast day was immediately inserted in the General Roman Calendar for celebration on August 12th, the day after her death, as August 11th was already assigned to Saints Tiburtius and Susanna, two 3rd-century Roman martyrs.

In 2018, about 5.8% percent of American adults were dependent on alcohol or had difficulties relating to alcohol use, and more than 11.7% of Americans aged 12 or older reported using an illicit drug in the prior month.

These statistics represent millions of people struggling with substance misuse and addiction and nearly all of these people have family members and friends rooting for their eventual recovery. Families play a large role in the recovery process, so it is important for spouses, siblings, parents, children, friends and others to understand how to help.

If you’re the loved one of someone struggling with addiction, you may have many questions and concerns, such as:

- How to deal with addiction
- How to support your loved one
- Finding support groups for families of addicts
