⭐️ Beyond the physical practice, yoga can offer space to reflect, reconnect, and move through life with greater awareness. Matthew shares what his practice has revealed to him over the years.⭐️
What have you learned about yourself through your yoga practice?
“Yoga’s kind of helped me realize some of my goals in relationships with people—students, friends, and family. It’s helped me realize that one of my primary goals in life is to be in harmony with all of my relations, no matter if that’s a student, somebody on the street that I haven’t met before, my partner, or my family. I just really desire a sense of harmony.
And I notice when I’m in that harmonious place with my relations, I feel much better. I feel like I have a sense of contentment, and yoga helps me find that because it helps me remove some of the moments of stickiness in my own mind, which sometimes limit my ability to connect with other people.
Sometimes the blockage feels like it’s in a physical place, but sometimes it feels like it’s in a more mental space. And the yoga practice gives me the spaciousness to express that challenge and feel my way through it, without needing to be in disharmony with other people or try to get them to fix the thing. I can go inward and take ownership for myself.”
