Most people think that house keys and course fabrics are the leading culprit behind scratched sunglasses.
In reality, metal and rough materials are not our main concern. Sand and dirt are the #1 everyday danger, with many people seeing specks of dirt and sand on their lenses and then immediately wiping their lenses with cloth, essentially dragging sand across the lens. If the lenses are non-glass, the scratches will be much more noticible and permanent than with glass lenses, especially if they don't have an anti-scratch coating.
Our advice? Avoid using a tshirt or cotton fabric to clean your lenses, and don't lay your sunglasses down on sand. Even fabrics that look clean may have dust or dirt that will permanetly damage your sunglasses. A microfiber cloth will always be the safest option, and will reduce the chances of marks on your lenses.
