Here is a quick look at our hours so you can plan ahead:

Monday, August 3 (BC Day): Closed

Sun protection is something we talk about all year round, but summer is a great reminder to check in on your routine! ☀️

Your skin does a lot of work to shield you from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, but here are some simple things you can do to support it! ☀️⬇️⁣

Try to stay out of direct sun between 10am-2pm when UV rays tend to be at their strongest. ☀️

If you are heading out, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses go a long way. Sunglasses in particular help protect your eyes from UV light, which can cause real damage over time. 🕶

Sunscreen is your everyday essential. Apply it before you head out and reapply throughout the day, especially if you are swimming or sweating. 🧴☀️

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated supports your skin from the inside out. 💧

When in doubt, seek the shade. The simplest form of sun protection is avoiding direct sunlight when you can. ☀️🕶

Most skin cancers are linked to cumulative UV exposure, so these small habits genuinely matter. Protecting your skin now is one of the kindest things you can do for your long-term health. ☀️

Most people don't realize this: in BC, your pharmacist can assess and prescribe for 21 common conditions.

No appointment. No waiting room. No referral needed.

Through the Minor Ailments and Common Conditions Service (MACS), our pharmacist can treat conditions including:

- Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
- Oral contraception
- Acne
- Cold sores
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis
- And more

If you're dealing with something that feels minor but needs proper treatment, come in and ask. It's faster, easier, and you'll get the same quality of care you'd expect from a medical appointment.

Not every medication comes in the right dose, the right form, or the right flavour for every patient.

That's where compounding comes in.

Compounding is the process of creating a customized medication specifically for an individual patient. At Lonsdale & 3rd, our pharmacist works with patients whose needs aren't met by standard commercial formulations. That might mean:

- A medication in liquid form for a child who can't swallow pills
- A lower or higher dose than what's commercially available
- A combination of two medications into one
- A topical cream instead of an oral tablet
- A flavour that makes a medication tolerable for kids

We have specialized training in compounding. If you've been told a medication isn't available in the right form, it's worth asking us first.

When it comes to allergies, prevention is the first step. A few simple habits can make a noticeable difference during allergy season. ⬇️

👉 Keep your windows and doors closed at home and in the car.
👉 Skip the window or attic fans, since they pull pollen straight inside.
👉 Dry clothing indoors to avoid pollen and allergens.
👉 A quick shower and hair wash goes a long way after spending time outside. It removes pollen from your skin and hair so it does not end up in your bedding.
👉 Steer clear of to***co smoke whenever possible as it can make allergy symptoms worse.

If prevention alone is not cutting it, there are a couple of easy options to try. An intranasal saline spray can help rinse allergens from your nasal passages, and a second-generation antihistamine can relieve symptoms without the drowsiness of older options.
