The term deep plane facelift may sound new, but the technique has been around for years under a different name.
When experts compare a deep plane facelift to a traditional SMAS facelift, they find no significant advantage for most patients.
The difference is that a SMAS facelift allows the skin and deeper tissues to be repositioned separately, giving the surgeon greater flexibility to customize the result. In a deep plane facelift, those layers move together, limiting that customization.
The best facelift isn't about the latest buzzwordβit's about choosing the right technique for the right patient.
