I recently took a trip to Killarney.

As we walked along the trail, we came across so many wild blueberries growing along the way.

Wild blueberries, also known as lowbush blueberries, grow naturally in Eastern Canada. Compared with commonly cultivated blueberries, they are smaller and darker in colour, with a much richer aroma and flavour.

On the way home, we spotted a small pop-up stand at a gas station selling wild blueberries—so, of course, I had to buy some!

The aroma! The flavour! So delicious!

You sometimes see these tiny blueberries at markets in Toronto, too. If you’re lucky enough to find them, definitely give them a try. You may be surprised by just how fragrant and flavourful they are.

Nature gives us something special with every season.

Through all five senses, it can soothe and restore both mind and body more powerfully than any supplement.

Let’s slow down and fully enjoy the richness of nature that can only be experienced right now.

Announcement!

Due to the extreme heat warning, tomorrow’s Farmers’ Market has been cancelled.

Instead, we’ll be at the nice, air-conditioned Zana Well! 😊

Since we were planning to offer Head Massage and Hand Massage at the market, we thought we’d use the time to practice instead.

If you’d like to give it a try, feel free to stop by Zana Well! We’ll be offering **1-minute (maybe more than 1min?!) complimentary Head or Hand Massages** to anyone who’s interested.

We’ll also have some nice, cold Mugicha(barley tea) waiting for you. We’d love to see you!

Stay safe, stay cool, and we’ll see you soon!

✨ Meet the JAM Team: Miho ✨

Miho has been a valued member of the JAM community for several years. After working as a rehabilitation assistant, she continued her journey as an apprentice, dedicating herself to the study and practice of Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion.

Combining her rehabilitation background with hands-on training in Japanese acupuncture, Miho provides thoughtful and compassionate care for people of all ages.

In addition to acupuncture, Miho has developed a strong interest in traditional Japanese fermented foods and enjoys sharing guidance on healthy eating and self-care practices.

We are grateful to have Miho as part of the JAM team. 💛

JAM – Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Clinic is operated by a team of three practitioners who have trained together for many years.

At JAM, only practitioners who have demonstrated the technical skills, attention to detail, and treatment approach that reflect the values of JAM are invited to practice as JAM therapists.

Although each practitioner brings their own unique experiences and strengths, we share the same foundation and treatment philosophy.

At JAM, we believe acupuncture and moxibustion are not only for treating symptoms, but also for supporting health before problems arise. We value treatments that work with the body gently, helping to restore balance and support long-term well-being.

Our style of Japanese Acumoxa is suitable for people of all ages — from children to older adults. It is also well suited for those who are sensitive to treatment, nervous about acupuncture, or dealing with complex and long-standing health concerns.
Whether you are seeking support for pain, stress, digestive concerns, women's health, or simply looking to maintain your overall health, our team is here to support you.

We are grateful to be part of the Toronto community and look forward to welcoming you to our clinic.

Meet the JAM team 😊

☀️ Summer Transition & Your Immunity

Summer has officially arrived in Toronto, with temperatures quickly climbing up to 29°C!
Because our seasonal transitions happen so suddenly, your body might be struggling to adapt to the rapid shift.

To help you adjust smoothly over the next two weeks, we recommend focusing on your digestive health and natural heat regulation.

🍲 Protect Your Digestive Energy

When you consume excessive cold food and drinks, your body is forced to expend extra energy just to raise its internal temperature. This can exhaust your gastrointestinal (GI) system and lead to a drop in appetite.

During this transition, we recommend you:
☕ Drink warm water or tea instead of ice-cold beverages.
🙅‍♂️ Minimize iced treats that shock your core temperature.
🍳 Eat cooked foods (vegetables can be steamed, quick boiled)
to lessen the digestive burden on your stomach.

📖 Beware of Unconscious Health Habits

Abrupt weather shifts catch our bodies off guard, but our daily routines can inadvertently make things worse.
Our teacher, Master acupuncturist Mitsunori Seino highlights this hidden strain in his newly published book, "Abunai Seikatsu Shukan 24 (Dangerous Lifestyle Habits 24)".

He warns that chronic fatigue and low immunity often stem from unconscious, everyday habits that ignore our body's natural signals.
Flooding your system with ice water or spending hours in aggressive air conditioning during a heatwave are perfect examples of hidden habits that deplete your defensive energy.

🏥 We Are Here to Help

If you are feeling sluggish, experiencing digestive issues, or struggling to adapt to the Toronto heat, our clinic can help restore your internal balance.
We use gentle, targeted therapies inspired by traditional Japanese regulatory care to strengthen your immune system from the inside out.

The strength of rice as it begins to sprout.
Our bodies, too, carry this quiet power to grow and heal.

Acupuncture works with this innate force, guiding the body toward recovery.
Acupuncture helps draw out the strength already within the body to address current imbalances and support healing.
It also helps maintain balance and may prevent future problems before they fully appear.

Which approach would you rather choose?

Waiting until the body is in pain—
or caring for it before it reaches that point?

🌾🌾🌾🌾
This year, I’m challenging myself to grow rice for the first time.
I’ll be keeping it at the clinic, so feel free to stop by and watch it grow with me

04/07/2026

The spring semester of my Japanese acupuncture class has started at the acupuncture school.

Some are taking the class as a required course, while others have joined out of genuine interest in Japanese acupuncture—each coming from a different background.

My class is not the kind where you have to study intensely in a conventional way.
Instead, I hope it becomes a space where students can feel a slightly different “wind” from what they have experienced so far.

After all, learning Japanese acupuncture does not appear on the national licensing exam.
Classes like this—ones that broaden perspective—are usually placed toward the end of an advanced course.

So then, what is Japanese acupuncture?
How many people can clearly say, “This is it”?

That vague feeling of “maybe… this?” that comes to mind—
as students begin to explore the historical background and how current practices have evolved—
gradually shifts into a deeper understanding:
“Ah, I see… so this is what it was.”

I hope that this process will connect, in some way,
to the path each student will choose to walk moving forward.

As a result, Monday afternoons at JAM – Wilson will be closed until late June.
Instead, we will be open on Wednesdays at the Wilson location, so please feel free to book your visits accordingly.
