Her passion towards a healthier lifestyle for hersel

f and her family, led her to the eld of Nutrition. Her mission is to inspire, educate, and provide clarity on what's happening in one's body and further helping them to achieve a better state of health and well-being. She is devoted to teaching her clients nutrition through whole foods in an easy, friendly, non-intimidating way. Her goal is for her clients to facilitate their own journey towards achieving optimum health. She looks at individual needs and their individual nutritional prole and makes recommendations for diet, lifestyle, and supplemental recommendations accordingly. My story:
Sujata Kale-Banerjea, is passionate about her new life style that she has adapted. She believes that she has made a positive impact on those around her. She loves to help people who are ready to make positive changes and hopes to motivate people who need that extra push. Before going into nutrition she primarily worked in the dental eld as a Treatment Co-Ordinator for over 13 years. She enjoyed her job of educating and creating awareness about the importance of dental health. Sujata is a loving wife and a mother of 2 beautiful girls, who always made a conscious effort to keep t with exercise. Until a few years ago she realized that age was catching up with her and exercise was not the only thing that would keep her t and healthy. Her body had taken a huge toll from life and she did not understand the impact of that toll until she looked into the mirror one day. The image in the mirror did not match the image Sujata had of herself in her mind. And that's when she decided that the Yoyo - dieting was not for her anymore and she really needed to do something different. She also realized that changing her lifestyle was not just about her weight but was also about ensuring a healthy environment for herself and her family. This is when she needed to understand how nutrition can play a huge role in being healthy. The passion for a healthy lifestyle geared her towards the field of holistic nutrition. She now knows that, apart from food - hormones, sleep and work-life balance are the foundations of a healthy life. She knows that her health is her future. That being healthy is to celebrate life and make every moment count.

What a transformation!!!

Just finished a beautiful Vinyasa flow and some strength training… and on my walk home, I had to share this. 💪🧘‍♀️

As a nutritionist, I constantly get calls from people saying:

“I’m eating healthy.”
“I’m working out.”
“I’m doing everything right.”
“So why am I not losing weight?”

Here’s the thing: exercise is incredibly important, but more exercise doesn’t automatically mean more weight loss.

If the body is already under physiological stress or dealing with inflammation, poor recovery, blood sugar dysregulation, hormonal changes, or nutrient deficiencies, pushing harder in the gym may not give you the result you expect.

Your metabolism needs the right nutrients to make enzymes and support hormones. And enzymes are the catalysts that allow thousands of metabolic reactions to happen efficiently in the body.

So sometimes the answer isn’t work out harder or eat less.

It’s asking a better question:

What does my body actually need in order to function better?

Movement matters. Strength matters. Muscle matters.
But so do nourishment, recovery, sleep, stress, hormones and your individual body chemistry.

Weight loss isn’t simply a calorie-and-exercise equation. It’s a metabolic conversation. 🌿

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared a recipe, and this one was too good not to share!

This Green Moong Dosa is one of those simple recipes that reminds me how nourishing real food can be.

Made with soaked whole green moong, cumin seeds, green chilli, and just a small amount of leftover cooked and cooled rice. Yes, leftover rice! I often get asked why I would add rice, and here’s the science behind it.

When rice is cooked, cooled, and then used later, some of its starch is converted into resistant starch. This type of starch isn’t fully digested in the small intestine. Instead, it nourishes our beneficial gut bacteria, supports gut health, and may help improve blood sugar responses as part of a balanced diet. As a bonus, it also gives the dosa a beautifully soft texture.

I paired it with a flavourful radish chutney made with channa and urad daal, daikon radish, onion, ginger garlic, dried red chilies, curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin, tamarind or tomato, and a few simple spices. Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavour!

Green Moong Dosa
• Soak whole green moong overnight.
• Blend with cumin seeds, green chilli, ginger and a small amount of leftover cooked and cooled rice until smooth.
• Add water as needed to make a pourable batter.
• Cook like a thin pancake on a hot pan until crisp and golden.

Simple ingredients. Traditional wisdom. Science-backed nutrition.

Have you ever used leftover cooked and cooled rice in your dosa batter? I’d love to hear your favourite variations in the comments!

Give a Punjabi girl a tablespoon of ghee… and she’ll make Mathri!” 😄

One of my wonderful Metabolic Balance clients shared this idea in our private community, and I couldn’t resist giving it a try. Thank you, Priya Arora Bhasin , for the inspiration and the photo on my group of metabolic balance clients! ❤️

Traditionally, mathri is made with refined flour and deep fried. This Metabolic Balance-inspired version uses rye flour, is baked instead of fried, and can even be adapted for the strict phase by simply leaving out the ghee.

I’m already thinking my next batch may include a little rye sourdough culture to add natural fermentation, a subtle tang, and potentially improve digestibility. Stay tuned… 😊

Recipes like these remind us that healthy eating doesn’t have to mean giving up the foods we love. Sometimes it simply means reimagining them.

✨ The recipe idea is in the comments.

Who knew a bowl of kale could make me this happy? 💚🌿

Sometimes the simplest meals are the ones that bring the biggest smile.

After what felt like forever, I finally found beautiful black kale at the Ponta do Sol Agricultural Expo here in Madeira. Add a basket of fresh herbs from a friend’s garden, and I couldn’t wait to get home.

The secret to a delicious kale salad? Massage it! A little olive oil and a pinch of salt help soften the leaves, making them tender, sweeter, and so much easier to enjoy.

I tossed mine with fresh parsley, fennel fronds, mint, garlic, black pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. Lunch was complete with homemade hummus, fresh berries, and for the first time ever, sourdough sweet potato bread from the market.

Simple. Seasonal. Nourishing.

Sometimes the best recipes don’t come from a cookbook… they come from what’s growing around us and shared by friends. 💚

🌿 Today I turn 64

I feel incredibly grateful.

Not because life has been perfect, but because every season has taught me something worth sharing.

As I step into this new chapter, my hope is simple: to keep learning, keep serving, and keep showing up with kindness.

Thank you for being here. ❤️

✨ Gratitude tastes even better when it’s shared. 💚

This beautiful chayote was gifted to me by a dear friend here in Madeira, who is now also a wonderful client. It reminded me how food has a way of bringing people together and creating meaningful connections.

So, of course, it became Chayote Dal… a simple, nourishing bowl made with lentils, warming spices, and lots of gratitude.

Sometimes the most memorable meals aren’t the elaborate ones. They’re the ones with a story behind them.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Every bite was enjoyed. 🙏🏽

What’s the last ingredient someone gifted you that inspired a meal?
