Celiac travel review Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
We have been very nervous to try an all inclusive vacation since our celiac diagnoses, but I cannot say enough good things about Dreams Onyx. One of the best things from a celiac perspective is that they have food concierges! We were introduced to the Zunilda and Santos through WhatsApp on our first day. They came to check on us at our meals, helped us navigate the restaurants, offered suggestions on gluten free items, and answered random questions about food throughout the resort. The waiters also got to know us, and were excited to share gluten free suggestions with us.
We upgraded to a preferred room to have access to the ร la carte restaurant for breakfast and lunch. In hindsight, the buffet offered plenty of safe gluten free options, so we likely would have been fine without it. I liked having the option to order from the chef for all three meals though, especially when we first arrived and were figuring out the menus and how to navigate the buffet. We also appreciated dining in the air-conditioned ร la carte restaurant rather than the open-air seating at the buffet as a break from the sun for lunch.
You can find all of the restaurant menus on the World of Hyatt Inclusive app, but there were lots of other things available that are not listed on the menus. They were very accommodating and wanted to make sure that we found lots of safe food to eat every day.
On top of the food, it is an absolutely beautiful resort with lots to do and amazing, friendly staff. We had a fantastic vacation.
Now, back to work so I can start saving to take our family back here!!!
