A little life update, and a reminder that therapists are human, too. 🤍
I've been quieter than usual around here lately.
Part of that is because, honestly, the world has felt really heavy. I've been struggling with feelings of worry, helplessness, and sadness about so many things happening around us.
And when your passion is helping people find hope, strength, and healing, it can be difficult to know what to say when you're struggling to find those things yourself.
I've also been navigating a medication adjustment that has left me feeling less than my best.
So, instead of pushing through, forcing content, or showing up simply because I felt I should, I made a conscious decision to step back.
I've been resting. Setting boundaries. Protecting my peace. Being intentional about where I spend my energy. And giving myself the same compassion and understanding I encourage others to offer themselves.
And you know what?
That's okay.
I think sometimes, especially in helping professions, we feel this pressure to always have something encouraging to say. To be the positive voice. To have the answers. To show up for everyone else.
But we are human, too.
We experience difficult emotions, uncertainty, exhaustion, and challenges with our own mental health.
And I think it's important to talk about that.
Because taking care of your mental health doesn't mean you'll never struggle.
It means learning to recognize when you're struggling, understanding what you need, and giving yourself permission to respond with kindness rather than criticism.
So, if you've been feeling overwhelmed lately, consider this your reminder:
You can care deeply about the world without carrying the weight of it every moment.
You can love what you do and still need a break.
You can be passionate about helping others while prioritizing yourself.
And you can step away without owing anyone an explanation.
I'm still here. Still doing work I love. Still believing in the power of connection, compassion, and hope.
Just taking a little extra care of myself along the way.
And I hope you're doing the same. 🤍
