You swing your legs out of bed, put your foot down, and the heel bites.
A few steps in it settles to a dull ache and you get on with the day.
That pattern is the tell.
Overnight the plantar fascia, the band of tissue along the bottom of your foot, tightens up.
The first loaded step pulls on it before it has loosened, which is why the morning is the worst of it.
It's not a bruise that will sort itself out on its own.
Left alone it tends to stick around, especially if you're on your feet through long shifts or in unsupportive footwear.
We look at your gait, check your foot mechanics, and where it helps, fit custom orthotics alongside hands-on treatment to take the load off that tissue.
If the mornings have been rough, get it looked at before it settles in.
