Another day, another school—and another opportunity to connect with the future of Therapeutic Recreation!

On September 16, TRO Executive Director Lisa Gordon, MEd, CTRS, R/TRO, visited Georgian College to connect with Recreation Therapy students and share more about Therapeutic Recreation Ontario and the benefits of TRO membership.

A big thank you to Durham College for welcoming Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO)!

TRO Executive Director Lisa Gordon, R/TRO, CTRS, recently had the opportunity to visit Durham College’s Recreation Therapy program and connect with students about the benefits of becoming a TRO member.

It was a great opportunity to introduce future Recreation Therapy professionals to TRO and share how membership can support them throughout their careers—from building professional connections and accessing valuable resources to continuing education and staying connected to the broader TR community across Ontario.

Thank you to Durham College for having us, and to the students for such a warm welcome. We’re excited to see where your careers in Therapeutic Recreation take you!

National Grief Awareness Day is observed annually on August 30th. It is to help break the silence surrounding loss and encourage open communication about the grieving process. Recreation Therapists help their clients, residents and families navigate grief by using meaningful and purposeful programs to help process difficult emotions. Grief often feels heavy and difficult to put into words. Recreation Therapists can introduce non-pharmacological outlets to safely channel these feelings.
