Over the last few years, we have heard from clients over and over again how terrified, disheartened, and horrified they feel as q***r and trans rights become more and more threatened both in Canada and internationally.
It seems like every day, there is a new headline regarding bills being proposed or passed that would limit gender affirming care, would "out" youth to their caregivers, and would threatened the safety of q***r and trans people in public spaces.
As we enter Pride month, more than ever, it's important that we remember that Pride is and has always been a protest. It's a time to bring light to injustices and fight for safety for all members of LGBTQIA+ communities.
Celebration and joy are forms of protest, too. In a climate where q***r and trans people are constantly threatened, leaning on each other, finding joy in community, and engaging with q***r art and media becomes a form of resistance.
This Pride month, we hope you all have access to community, connection, and support that makes you feel seen and validated.
