🧐Recent research suggests that online therapy is not generally less effective than in-person therapy. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis of 54 randomized controlled trials (5,463 participants) found little to no difference in effectiveness between therapist-guided remote and in-person CBT.

Similarly, a 2021 meta-analysis of 47 studies found that video-based psychotherapy had a negligible difference in outcomes compared with in-person psychotherapy.

However, this doesn’t mean online therapy is best for everyone. Accessibility, individual preferences, the type of therapy, and the techniques being used can all matter. Online therapy may make treatment easier to access, while some people or therapeutic approaches may benefit from in-person interaction.

Bottom line: Neither format is universally better the most appropriate option depends on the person, treatment, and circumstances.

🌿 5 Simple Mental Health Strategies for Your Week

Small shifts can make a big difference in how you feel throughout the week. Try adding these simple strategies to your routine:

1️⃣ Ground yourself
Use calming sights, sounds, scents, or textures to help you feel more present.

2️⃣ Take a break
Pause and recharge before you feel completely exhausted.

3️⃣ Shift your environment
When you feel stuck, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, try changing your surroundings.

4️⃣ Create a transition
Build a small ritual between work and personal time to help you mentally switch gears.

5️⃣ Protect your energy
Unfollow or mute accounts that leave you feeling drained.

💛 Mental health care doesn’t always have to be a big change. Sometimes, small, intentional choices can help you feel more balanced.

Which one will you try this week?

Reminder: Not every feeling is a fact. 💭
Our feelings are real and they matter. At the same time, they don’t always reflect what’s true. Anxiety, fear, and self doubt can make thoughts feel convincing, but that doesn’t make them facts.

Notice what you’re feeling. Get curious about the thoughts behind it. Then respond with intention instead of assumption. 🤍

Burnout is more than feeling stressed after a busy week. It’s an occupational phenomenon that can develop when chronic workplace stress goes unmanaged over time.

It may show up as ongoing exhaustion, feeling detached or cynical about work, and a noticeable decline in your ability to perform at your best.

Recognizing the signs is the first step toward addressing them. 💙

What do you think?

Answer:
There is no required level of severity to begin therapy. People seek therapy for a wide range of concerns, not only during times of crisis or when experiencing a mental health disorder. Therapy can be beneficial for individuals who are navigating everyday stress, major life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, work or academic pressures, low self-esteem, or simply seeking greater self-awareness and personal growth. Others may pursue therapy to develop healthier coping strategies, improve communication skills, process past experiences, or build emotional resilience. Seeking therapy does not require reaching a “breaking point”; it is a proactive and valid way to support mental well-being, enhance quality of life, and foster personal development at any stage.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time dedicated to recognizing and honouring the rich histories, diverse cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and MĂŠtis peoples. It is also a time to recognize their strength, resilience, and knowledge, which continue to support and shape these communities today.

These are just a few of the findings included in the Victimization of First Nations people, MĂŠtis and Inuit in Canada report by Samuel Perreault. Statistics Canada reports that about 4 in 10 Indigenous people experienced physical or sexual violence by an adult before the age of 15, while Indigenous people were nearly 10 times more likely than non-Indigenous people to have been under the legal responsibility of the government during childhood (11% versus 1.3%). In 2019, about 8.4% of Indigenous people experienced sexual assault, robbery, or physical assault, compared with 4.2% of non-Indigenous people.

There are many additional statistics that further illustrate the range of these issues, driven by underlying social and economic conditions, including disproportionate rates of criminal victimization. We encourage you to review the full report for a more comprehensive understanding and context.

It is important to take time to inform ourselves, reflect on what we learn, and commit to improving how we understand and respond to these issues. At our clinic, we take time to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward greater understanding and respect. We continue to acknowledge history, listen to lived experiences, and commit to ongoing learning to support more informed and respectful care moving forward.
