🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today, Restore Medical Clinics honours the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.
We recognize that the impact of colonialism, and systemic discrimination continues to shape health, access to care, and trust in health care systems today.
For RMC, reconciliation is not simply about acknowledging the past. It is about changing what we do in the present.
As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to create spaces where Indigenous patients feel respected, heard, safe, and valued. That means listening to Indigenous communities, learning from Indigenous knowledge and lived experience, strengthening culturally safe care, and confronting the barriers within our health system that contribute to inequitable health outcomes.
Our commitment is to continue building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and partners, deepen our understanding of Indigenous health and wellness, and ensure that equity, dignity, and respect are reflected in the care we provide.
We know that reconciliation requires action, accountability, and sustained commitment.
Today, we remember the children.
We honour the Survivors.
We acknowledge the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples.
And we recommit ourselves to doing the work, not only today, but every day.
