Here, Dr. MacArthur is showing the difference between silicone breast implants and a saline device that was removed from a patient during surgery.

Saline implants were popularized in the 90’s, but have largely fallen out of favour as surgeons returned to primarily using silicone devices. Silicone implants look and feel much more natural, and show markedly less rippling through the skin.

At New Age Medical Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer state of the art surgical simulation tools such as the Vectra System.

The use of Vectra allows us to show patients what they would look like with different breast implant sizes, or what they could expect after a rhinoplasty or chin implant.

While simulation results are not a guarantee of what the final aesthetic result will look like, they are a powerful tool for communication between doctor and patient.

Implant profile matters!
The device on the left is a 450 cc low profile silicone breast implant, while the one on the right is a 480 cc high profile BOOST implant.
If you are looking for a full augmentation with lots of upper pole fullness, the device on the right is the superior choice. In our opinion, low profile implants aren’t always able to provide effective shape and fill volume with this surgery, but every patient is different!
It is essential that you discuss your aesthetic goals with your surgeon pre-operatively to ensure your best chance of success.
