Can you commit to finding something to be grateful for each day. This isn’t an act of the woo woo but a way to shift your perspective when things get hard in perimenopause.

When I stop or fall out of habit I start to feel worse, so it does help. Small things that are real that you can find grace in. That’s the key.

One of my many roles is as an embodiment teacher for Embodiment Coaching | Coach Training on their certification of embodied coaching.

It’s always with so much pleasure and a lot of gratitude to see these students transform both personally and as coaches.

What a job! Can I even call it that when it’s so fun?

Next round of CEC certification starts in September!

It's been a while since I posted on the difference between perimenopause and menopause.

In perimenopause, you still have a cycle. It can be erratic, the flow might change, and symptoms such as sleep disruption, hot flashes in luteal phase, and other changes can occur.

In menopause, your periods are done (once you have had no cycle for 12 months). It's really a day, a point in time.

Post menopause is everything after you have hit menopause.

You can have symptoms in all 3, and can be treated in all 3. You don't need to wait until your periods have stopped.

Happy Friday ;)

Let's consider how this could be a good thing:
- most women find they have a lower tolerance for BS- that means new boundaries, less people pleasing and a higher sense of self worth. (Instead of thinking you are being b!tchy, maybe you are boundaried. Good for you)

- emotions are heightened. Many women report waffling between sadness and anger. Could that be your body giving you information. Sadness might be grief of loss of former self (AND who do you get to become now? Could be exciting!)
Anger is usually a boundary pushed (see above)

So maybe we are changing. But it's not all bad. It's different. And we get to choose who we want to be in this phase.

That's not to say it isn't a hard adjustment, it is. I'm there with you, but this is a time when we can also re prioritize, think about what we want for our future and make changes. It might be stimulated by the physical changes going on, but we can use that as fodder for change.

Although we can have some visible signs of menopause- sweating being one, there is a whole internal process going on.

Our brain changes- meaning things can feel more stressful, our memory changes and our ability to juggle a thousand things at once also changes.

So what does that mean for our loved ones. They also need to shift.
Support us in areas that we now need more help in- the mental load, stress reduction, support in managing work and home, taking on more tasks, supporting strong sleep hygiene.

We need to recognize that we need more support and then ask for it. Our family and friends then in turn, need to jump on board. There is a relational aspect to this, not just a "womens problem". Having a solid support system is what can help us manage the day to day.

When we look at midlife, we need to consider not just our physical well being but also our mental and spiritual well being.

This is a phase where our body needs more support as the physical changes can be intense. That's a fairly straightforward process.

The harder bits are the mental challenge of accepting our body is changing, of noticing our strategies for managing life might also be changing. Our needs evolve and our willingness to put up with crap definitely change (no more BS!)

The spirit side of this often can relate to the proverbial "mid life crisis". What do I want out of life, am I fullfilled, and am I moving towards purpose and meaning.

It's why I say this time of life requires a 3 pronged approach. To thrive, we need to look at all 3 areas.

When life is rocky we don’t need to ignore the hard stuff, we definitely need to meet ourselves where we are at … and also find what we can be grateful for. Not everything is all bad… or all good… life is a balance of both. If we look for things to be grateful for, no matter how big or small it can help when times are tough.
