✹ What a night of inspiration, innovation, and celebration.

The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) was honoured to join the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in Calgary to celebrate the 2026 Laureates and Medical Student Award recipients from across Canada. 🇹🇩🏅

Hearing the stories, accomplishments, and impact of this year’s honourees was a powerful reminder of the leadership, compassion, and excellence that continue to shape the future of medicine in Canada. 🌟

We are also incredibly proud to recognize several members of the CFMS community - including associates, national officers, committee members, and our own Ontario Regional Director and Executive Vice-President, Ragav Chona - who were among this year’s award recipients. Your dedication to advancing student leadership, advocacy, research, and community service is truly inspiring.

We were thrilled to be represented by our Western Regional Directors, Henry and Carolyn, with Carolyn also attending as our incoming CFMS President.

Congratulations to all of the 2026 Laureates and Medical Student Award recipients. Thank you to Canadian Medical Hall of Fame for an unforgettable evening celebrating excellence in Canadian medicine. 👏💙

Welcome to Perspectives in Medicine Month! Each week, we explore a new theme through a thought-provoking prompt, inviting you to unpack its meaning and reflect on your own experiences through creative expression.

At the end of each week, we will be compiling the themed pieces into a digital anthology, which will be published on our social media and the CFMS blog.

This week’s theme is New Beginnings.

Here’s the prompt to guide your reflection:
“Art is not a thing; it is a way.” ~Elbert Hubbard.

In medicine, we often shift our perspective from the “thing” (data, labs, diagnosis) to the “way” (healing, empathy, intuition). This week, think about what the art of medicine means to you.

Submissions for Theme 4 are due June 7, 2026. By the end of 2 weeks, we will be compiling the themed pieces into a digital anthology, which will be published on our social media and the CFMS blog. You have the option to submit your work anonymously if you would prefer.
