Never be afraid to do something but use these ideas to avoid injury

What we learned clinically this week:

A patient came in with severe low back pain after spending hours over the weekend cleaning up his yard.

He could barely walk into the clinic. Sitting—and especially standing back up—was nearly impossible.

We helped him onto the table and adjusted his right pelvis (often mistaken for the “hip”).

After the adjustment?
He was able to walk again. Just like that.

Takeaways from this case:

✅ Pace yourself — your body isn’t used to gardening after a long winter
✅ Break big tasks into smaller chunks
✅ A couple of hours a day is more than enough
✅ You don’t need to do everything in one day

‼️Why it feels like a heart attack when you have rib pain‼️

Your mid back or thoracic spine, made up of 12 vertebrae,(T1–T12), each vertebrae is connected to a rib.

It’s built for stability because its purpose is to protect:
✅ YOUR heart and
✅YOUR lungs.

It has a natural outward curve (kyphosis). Your mid back also has less mobility than other areas of your back —but essential for posture and breathing.

🔹It has limited mobility due to rib attachments.
- The rib cage acts as a mechanical restraint to prevent injury to your heart and lungs

However, if one rib injured or moved out of place, it can cause severe pain when taking in a breath— AND —- because the ribs sit right over your heart- it can feel like there’s something wrong with your heart.

✅✅Good News✅✅

Although it is a super painful experience a rib “being out”at Chiromax of Manotick, it is a super easy process to fix a subluxated rib so you can breath again without the pain and get onto your activities of daily living.

Freezing Rain To Do:

Here is a quick “night-before Freezing Rain storm” checklist you can do in about 5 minutes:

1️⃣ Charge everything
Phone & Power banks
Laptop or tablet

2️⃣ Prepare light
Put flashlights where you can find them & Check batteries

3️⃣ Prepare water
Fill a few water bottles/containers

4️⃣ Prepare food
Put easy food somewhere accessible (bread, snacks, canned food)

5️⃣ Stay warm
Put extra blankets and warm clothes nearby

6️⃣ Car check
Make sure your car has gas
Bring an ice scraper inside

👍🏾That’s it— if the power goes out, you’ll already be prepared.

YOUR WALLET CAN TRIGGER SCIATICA 💳➡️⚡

If you sit with your wallet in your back pocket, it can throw your hips and low back out of alignment over time.

When one side of your pelvis sits higher, your spine has to twist and compensate — which can lead to low-back pain and sciatica-like symptoms (numbness, tingling, or pain down the leg).

This is even worse if you sit for long periods at work or while driving.

✅ Simple fix, big impact:
• Take your wallet out of your back pocket
• Sit evenly on both sides
• Take posture breaks during the day
