Ever had a session where your client shares something, and your mind goes blank? 🧠
I promise you, you are not alone, this happens to everyone.
Here’s a reframe, “stuck” isn’t a failure. On the contrary, it’s an opportunity to deepen trust.
Here are 3 ways to handle it 👇
1️⃣ Pause and reflect : There is so much power in the “pause”. It can give space to process.
2️⃣ Get curious: instead of forcing the “perfect” response, lean on curiosity. A simple “can you tell me more about that?” keeps the conversation moving.
3️⃣ Circle back: You don’t have to have all the answers at the moment. Saying “huh, this is such an interesting topic. I would like to think about this a little longer and perhaps we could revisit the next time” models honesty.
When you normalize these moments, clients learn it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away.
If you are looking for support to navigate moments like this, we have just opened registration for ED for RDs: Essentials.
