New Program Available at The Ottawa Cancer Foundation!

This free program has been developed for parents who are navigating the unique challenges of parenting while living with cancer. We are bringing together facilitators with experience in different areas to provide a supportive and practical program. Each session will combine information, discussion, practical strategies as well as opportunities for parents to learn from each other. We are incredibly grateful to our facilitators, Sylvia Corzato (Registered Psychotherapist), Dr. Sophie Lebel (C.Psych) and Tara Cohen (MSW, RSW).

Friendly reminder: September–December is our busiest season every year 🍂

Massage therapy and physiotherapy appointments tend to fill quickly, and some providers book several weeks to months in advance.

If ongoing care is part of your wellness plan, now is a great time to pre-book your fall appointments.

Massage therapy isn’t just a luxury it can be an important part of ongoing recovery and maintenance care.

It may help with:
- Muscle tension
- Stress and nervous system regulation
- Post-treatment stiffness
- Scar tissue restrictions
- General body awareness and relaxation

Sometimes supportive care is just as important as restorative care.

We’re so excited to be back at The Ottawa Cancer Foundation for another FREE workshop.

Exercise is one of the most powerful tools in cancer recovery. It helps improve energy, reduce treatment-related side effects, support mental health, and even enhance survival outcomes. This workshop explores the latest evidence on how exercise benefits people across all stages of cancer treatment and recovery—and how to do it safely and effectively.

You will learn:
- How exercise helps manage fatigue, neuropathy, lymphedema, and bone loss
- What the research says about exercise and cancer outcomes
- Tips for building a safe, personalized movement routine during and after treatment

Research shows that cancer-specific exercise programs improve physical function, reduce recurrence risk, and support quality of life in breast, prostate, colorectal, and gynecologic cancers (Campbell et al., 2019; Schmitz et al., 2010; Patel et al., 2021).
This workshop will only be offered in person to ensure supervised and safe physical activity for all participants.

You do not need to be a current patient to attend.
When: August 10th at 10:45am
Where: The Ottawa Cancer Foundation West End Hub (3865 Old Richmond Rd.)
