The Importance of Sleep 😴
Prioritizing sleep can have a positive impact on both your skin health and your mental health.
"Clinical research shows that people who sleep less than 6 hours a night experience higher skin aging scores, slower skin barrier recovery, and increased signs of inflammation compared to those who get adequate sleep. During deep sleep, the body regulates critical skin-related hormones such as melatonin, cortisol, and growth hormone, which directly affect collagen production, hydration, and repair." ~ Sleep Research Foundation
Consider incorporating these healthy sleep habits into your nightly routine:
☕ Reduce afternoon/evening caffeine intake. Caffeine can stay in your system for up to 5 hours, impacting your ability to fall asleep
🔊 White noise can help drown out sounds in your environment, allowing for a more restful sleep. Even a simple fan will often do the trick!
📲 Reducing distractions by leaving your cell phone in another room can help limit overnight waking (yeah, we know this is a tough one!)
