Is your nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight? 🚨

Fight-or-flight is one of the body’s built-in survival responses, designed to help us respond quickly to perceived danger.

While this response can be life-saving in the face of real threats, many people find their nervous system gets “stuck” in this activated state.

When that happens, the brain and body can begin treating everyday stressors as if they’re emergencies.

Instead of feeling calm and grounded, you may feel constantly on alert, always preparing for the next thing.

This response can result from:
1. Chronic Stress
2. Trauma
3. Anxiety
4. Ongoing Uncertainty or Lack of Safety

⚡ Signs You Might Be Stuck in Fight-or-Flight ⚡

If your nervous system is spending too much time in survival mode, you may notice:

* Feeling anxious, restless, or on edge
* Racing thoughts or difficulty “turning your brain off”
* Irritability or being quick to react
* Muscle tension, jaw clenching, or headaches
* Difficulty relaxing, even when you want to
* Sleep difficulties or feeling tired but wired
* Feeling constantly busy or productive, yet unable to truly rest

While these reactions are protective, they can become exhausting when your nervous system never gets the message that it’s safe to stand down.

✨ How Neurofeedback Can Help ✨

Neurofeedback helps the brain become more aware of its own patterns and supports greater self-regulation.

As the brain becomes more flexible, many people notice they feel calmer and less reactive.

Rather than staying stuck in a state of constant activation, the nervous system can learn to move more easily between challenge, recovery, and rest.

What is a QEEG? 🧠✨

QEEG brain mapping is one of my (and client’s) favourite steps in the neurofeedback process.

It’s not every day we get to actually see and quantify our brain activity!

It can be very validating for you to understand their brain through real data and it’s an amazing tool to create a personalized treatment plan tailored just for your nervous system.

A QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) is an incredible tool that helps us understand how your brain works by creating a “brain map.”

Here’s how the process works step-by-step:

1️⃣ Preparation: We’ll place a cap with sensors on your head. These sensors pick up the natural electrical activity of your brain in a completely non-invasive and painless way.

2️⃣ Recording Brainwaves: While you sit back and relax, the sensors record your brain’s activity. This data gives us a snapshot of how different areas of your brain are functioning.

3️⃣ Data Analysis: Your brainwave patterns are compared to a database of healthy, normative brain activity. This helps identify patterns linked to the symptoms you may be struggling with.

4️⃣ Personalized Care: The results of your QEEG guide the next steps - whether it’s neurofeedback, other interventions, or just gaining a deeper understanding of your brain.

Curious about what your brain map might reveal? 💌 DM me to learn more or book your QEEG session today!

Today, we’re celebrating Kennedy! 🎓

Many of you have likely met or spoken with her over the past while, but I haven’t properly introduced one of the people who helps keep everything running smoothly at the clinic.

Kennedy is another one of our awesome Neurofeedback Technicians. 🧠⚡️

Over the last couple of months, she has truly stepped up in every sense of the word. She is the walking definition of “holding down the fort”: reliable, thoughtful, adaptable, and always willing to jump in wherever she’s needed (and she’s been needed a lot lately - IYKYK 🫠).

Today, we’re also celebrating a huge personal milestone for her as she walks across the stage and receives her official Psychology degree from Carleton University.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Kennedy. Congratulations on a well-deserved achievement! 🎉💙

Level two for Jamie! ✌🏻

Follow along as we continue to test our brains using bilateral challenges 🧠

How did it go for you?

Kennedy making level two look a little too easy 😮‍💨

Can you beat Level 2 of this bilateral brain game? 🤜🏻✋🏻

Stay tuned for Jamie’s attempt next.

Your nervous system doesn’t usually “break down” out of nowhere.

It starts by trying to get your attention. 🚨

Sometimes quietly: like feeling on edge all the time, or being exhausted but unable to actually relax.

Sometimes louder: like reacting in ways that don’t feel like you, or shutting down completely.

And sometimes through your body: tight chest, headaches, brain fog, trouble focusing.

These aren’t random. They’re signals. ‼️

Your nervous system is trying to tell you it’s overwhelmed and it doesn’t know how to come back to balance on its own.

You don’t need more discipline.

You don’t need to “push through.”

You need support that works with your brain and body.

That’s where neurofeedback can help. 🧠

Neurofeedback trains your brain to regulate itself more efficiently so you can feel calmer, think more clearly, and respond instead of react.

✨ If this sounds like you, it might be time to listen to what your system has been asking for.

Client stories are my favourite stories. 🧠💛

This is one of my favourite kinds of feedback because it reflects real change in a child’s day-to-day life.

When the nervous system is better regulated, focus becomes more accessible, learning feels less overwhelming, and new skills can emerge in ways that might have once felt out of reach.

Neurofeedback is particularly helpful for children, especially those on the autism spectrum or with other neurodivergent profiles, because it can support these functions in a kid-friendly way during key developmental stages.

Curious if neurofeedback could support your child?

Let’s chat. 💬

How did you do?

It’s the technician’s turn to try some brain challenges. 🧠

Jamie obviously makes it look too easy. 😅
