Sometimes, the most meaningful part of practice is simply making space for yourself.

An hour to move, breathe, reconnect, and be present with where you are.

And when you leave, you carry a little of that feeling with you.
That’s the beauty of showing up. 🤍

Hot yoga is a practice you experience, not something you have to perfect. 🤍

Some days you’ll feel strong and some days you’ll move a little slower. Every practice has something to offer.

Come as you are.

See you in the hot room. 🌿

You thought you were joining a yoga studio.

What you found was a place to belong.

The movement brought you in, but it’s the familiar faces, the conversations before class, the smiles after Savasana, and the feeling of being welcomed exactly as you are that keeps you coming back.

That’s the Modo Yoga Orleans difference. 🤍

Your shoulders might be talking to your hips. You read that right😃

Often, a little more shoulder mobility can change the way your whole body moves and feels because its all connected.

A simple way to think about it is: what’s happening in Ottawa might be affecting Vancouver.💫

Savasana is where your practice gently integrates.

As your body rests in Savasana, stress hormones settle, calming GABA activity increases, and your nervous system gets a chance to shift into a more restorative state.

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the brain’s main inhibitory neurotransmitter. Think of it as the brain’s natural brake pedal, helping quiet overactive neural activity and create a sense of calm.

Healthy GABA activity can:

1. Reduce stress and anxiety:
Help quiet brain circuits associated with worry and promote a greater sense of calm.

2. Support deeper, more restorative sleep: By helping the mind slow down, GABA plays an important role in healthy sleep.

3. Improve focus and mental clarity: Less mental noise and overstimulation can make it easier to concentrate and feel present.

4. Support emotional balance:
GABA helps regulate brain activity involved in mood and emotional responses.

5. Encourage physical relaxation: GABA also helps reduce muscle tension and supports a more relaxed state throughout the body.

This is one reason why a practice like yoga, meditation and deep breathing can feel so incredibly grounding and restorative. They give the body and brain an opportunity to slow down, settle, and restore.

Savasana isn’t simply the end of class. It’s where we pause, absorb, and allow the benefits of our practice to settle in deeply.

The pose we work towards in our yoga practice is Savasana (Co**se Pose), and for many, it is one of the most challenging yet transformative poses we experience.

After moving, breathing, strengthening, and creating heat in the body, Savasana gives us the opportunity to integrate everything we’ve done. It’s where the body can fully relax, the breath can settle, and our whole system shifts from doing and responding into resting and restoring.

Savasana is where we pause, absorb, and allow the benefits of our practice to settle in.

Stay tuned as we’ll dive deeper into this in our next post.

Your body is always listening.

The thoughts you think, the words you tell yourself, and the stories you repeat leave an imprint on your body. They shape how you feel, how you move, and how you experience the world.

When you cultivate calm and self-compassion, your nervous system responds. Stress hormones settle, muscles soften, and your body is better able to rest, repair, and restore.

Your body is a great listener, so the way you speak to yourself truly matters.

At Modo Yoga Orleans, we create space to quiet the inner critic, reconnect with ourselves, and remember that well-being begins with the relationship we build with ourselves…on and off the mat. 🍃
