The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health

The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health Wabano is a wholistic health and cultural centre supporting Ottawa's Indigenous community.

The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health is an award-winning organization that serves over 18,000 Indigenous people annually. In addition to the medical services offered through our clinic, we offer countless culturally-based social programs designed to help Indigenous individuals and families lead healthy lives, including:

- Mental health services
- After-school programs
- Cultural programming
-

Seniors' circles
- Parenting groups
- Nutrition & fitness activities
- Diabetes care

More than a health centre, Wabano is a proud Indigenous organization dedicated to helping Indigenous people live the good life. We envision a world in which all First Nations, Inuit and Métis people have achieved full and equitable access to the conditions of health including: pride in ancestry, cultural reclamation, peace, shelter, education, food, income, a stable environment, resources, and social justice. We envision a world where the gifts and wisdom of First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures are recognized as valuable, distinctive and beautiful.

Today is International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories and resilience of Indigenous peoples worldwide. We extend our heartfelt best wishes to our Indigenous siblings across the globe.

We also want to reflect on the profound and enduring connections that bind Indigenous communities to their lands, traditions, languages and to each other. These connections are the bedrock of our knowledge systems and ways of life.

To all Indigenous peoples across the planet, happy World's Indigenous Peoples Day!

For National Wellness Month, we're sharing activities that help you heal and maintain the four quadrants of wellness.

The 🧠 Mental 🧠 quadrant of the Medicine Wheel reminds us that we need to care for our heads as much as our hearts.

Try it today: take 5 minutes to stretch, go for a short walk or call a loved one and share how you're really feeling.

What does wellness look like for you? Tell us in the comments!

Happy National Wellness Month! August is a time to reflect on what wellness can look like.

The Medicine Wheel reminds us that wellness is about finding balance between the four aspects of our being:

🧠 Mental
❤️ Emotional
💪 Physical
🌟 Spiritual

This August, we invite you to explore what wellness looks like for you—and see how you can connect with a like-minded community at Wabano.

Please note that Wabano will be closed on Monday, Aug. 3 for the Civic Holiday. Enjoy the long weekend!
