Have you ever heard of an IPRC?
The crazy thing is that schools often won’t talk about an IPRC until YOU bring it up.
Here’s what you need to know…
>> An IPRC is not an IEP. It’s kind of like an insurance policy that makes sure your child gets what’s in their IEP.
>> Having an IPRC will also ensure your child gets an IEP (in case you’ve ever heard “we can support them without an IEP” 🙃).
>> IPRCs give your child specific services, programs, and supports that go beyond an IEP.
>> According to the Ministry of Education: an IEP is non-binding without an IPRC.
Which means that an IPRC is what guarantees your child will receive the services they need.
>> Without an IPRC, you don’t have the same formal rights and your child’s services can be removed (since IEPs are considered a working document and non-binding without an IPRC).
Again, this is straight from the Ministry of Education and Education Act (Ontario), both are linked in the pinned comments for you to check out.

Throughout this series, I’m breaking down eligibility, how to request one, exactly what it will do for your child’s success at school, and how to handle pushback when the school says your child doesn’t need it (and you know they do!).
