Happy Vinyl Record Day!

I grew up in a house where music was almost always playing.

Thanks to my dad, my introduction to music started with records. The Beatles, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, ABBA... it felt like I got a crash course in music history before I even knew there was “current” music.

Then came cassette tapes.

That’s when I discovered there was actually new music being made.

(Thanks, Dad... for eventually letting me figure that out. 😄)

Then came CDs.

I collected far more than I probably needed.

And now? I can carry almost every song I’ve ever loved in my pocket.

The technology has changed, but what music does hasn’t.

Some songs instantly take me back to doing puzzles while The Eagles played in the background.

Others remind me of being pregnant with my daughter, soaking in the bathtub while Fleetwood Mac’s The Dance played. Without fail, that’s when she’d start kicking.

It’s funny how a song can transport you decades in a matter of seconds.

Music doesn’t just remind us where we’ve been.

It reminds us who we were.

What’s one song—or album—that instantly takes you back to another time in your life?

Metaphysical Menopause — This Saturday

Missed the workshop last month? I'm doing it again!

This is more or less the same workshop and information as last time, so this one is especially for anyone who wanted to come but couldn't make it. You don't need to have attended anything before.

We'll be chatting about different pieces of perimenopause and menopause — what's happening in the body, the mental and emotional side of it, and the more metaphysical side of moving into the Crone stage of life.

I'll introduce each topic, and then we'll open the conversation up in between.

Ask questions. Share your experience. Compare notes. Laugh about the ridiculous parts. Or just sit and listen if that's more your speed.

We'll finish the afternoon with a short-ish guided meditation to bring everything back to you and this next season you're moving into.

Learn. Laugh. Connect.

No expectation that you'll remember why you walked into the room.

Spaces are limited. Follow this link to reserve your space: https://www.otherworldtreasures.com/events/metaphysical-menopause-with-kelly-van-den-ham-2

If you've been wondering what the hell is happening to your body — or you just want to spend an afternoon with other women who get it — come join us.

Menopause is more than a physical transition, it can be a profound spiritual initiation and an invitation to reconnect with yourself in a whole new way.

Happy Lazy Day!

Although... I’ve never really liked the word lazy.

When I was a teenager, I wasn’t lazy—I was usually procrastinating because I’d found a book that was far more interesting than whatever homework I was supposed to be doing. More than one weekend disappeared that way.

Then I became a mom at 21, and “lazy weekends” pretty much disappeared overnight.

Rest looked like sitting on the couch while The Wiggles played on repeat in the background. (In hindsight... that probably should have been my first clue that my daughter was going to march to the beat of her own drum. 😄)

Now, when I think about rest, it has nothing to do with being lazy.

It’s about finding moments where my brain finally quiets down.

Where I stop planning, solving, organizing, or thinking five steps ahead.

Where I can hear the birds, feel the breeze, or simply enjoy a cup of tea without mentally writing tomorrow’s to-do list.

I don’t think we need more lazy days.

I think we need more peaceful ones.

What’s your version of a peaceful day?

Happy Book Lovers Day!

I’ve realized that the books I remember most aren’t necessarily the ones with the best reviews—they’re the ones that opened a new door.

When I was a teenager, my mom insisted I read Gone With the Wind before we watched the movie together.

At first, I thought, Seriously? This thing is huge. Then I got completely hooked.

I even stayed up all night reading the sequel because I had to know what happened next.

Another book I still think about was set in the court of King Henry VIII, but it wasn’t told through the eyes of a king or queen. It followed one of the queen’s ladies-in-waiting as history unfolded around her.

That idea fascinated me.

History wasn’t just dates and famous people anymore—it was everyday lives caught in extraordinary moments.

These days, most of my reading is health-related. The funny thing is that one book almost always leads to another, and before I know it, I’ve disappeared down a rabbit hole researching hormones, digestion, herbs, or some fascinating new study.

Looking back, I think my favourite books all have one thing in common.

They didn’t just tell me a story, they made me curious.

And curiosity has a funny way of changing your life.

So now I’m curious... what’s one book that has stayed with you long after you finished reading it?

Have you ever noticed that August feels... different?

Not because the calendar says so.

Because the air changes.

One evening, you step outside and realize you want a sweater.

You sleep better with the windows open.

The crickets slowly replace the daytime birds, and suddenly summer has a different soundtrack.

I think that’s why I call August the Sunday of Summer.

It’s not rushing us toward fall. It’s simply asking us to notice the little things before the season changes.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite little signs that August has quietly arrived.

What was the first sign you noticed this year?

METAPHYSICAL MENOPAUSE

Learn • Laugh • Connect

Have you ever caught yourself wondering...

“Is this menopause... or am I just losing it?”

If so, you’re not alone.

Whether you’re just beginning perimenopause, well into menopause, or simply curious about what’s changing, this workshop was created to help you better understand your body—and remind you that you’re not navigating this season by yourself.

We’ll explore what’s happening during perimenopause and menopause in a relaxed, welcoming space where questions are encouraged, laughter is expected, and real conversations happen.

Together we’ll talk about:

What’s actually happening in your body
Sleep, stress, hot flashes & changing cycles
Pelvic floor and whole-body changes
Practical everyday supports
Optional holistic perspectives and wisdom traditions
A guided meditation
Plenty of time for discussion and connection

You’ll also receive a participant workbook filled with practical tools, resources, and space to continue your own Body Detective journey after the workshop.

Space is intentionally limited to keep the conversations comfortable, welcoming and not overheating the room.

If you missed the first workshop, this is the same core workshop and the perfect opportunity to join us.

This is also just the beginning.

My hope is to create a community where women can continue learning, laughing, asking questions, and supporting one another through every stage of life. More gatherings are already taking shape, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Come exactly as you are.

I’d love to see you there.

Happy Ice Cream Sandwich Day!

I fully support celebrating with whatever version makes your stomach (and your taste buds) happy. Dairy, oat, coconut, almond... if it’s cold and delicious, it counts.

Personally, I think the dog days of summer are less about the heat and more about slowing down.

Eating ice cream before it melts.

Watching the clouds drift by.

Staying out just a little longer because the evening finally cooled off.

Those are the moments I remember most.

So today, treat yourself to your favourite frozen dessert, take a few minutes to enjoy it, and embrace the dog days of summer.

(Just maybe don’t eat it faster than it melts... we’ve all made that mistake once. 😄)

Happy August!

Today marks Lammas, also known by its Celtic name Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-nah-sah), one of the oldest seasonal festivals celebrating the first harvest.

Traditionally, communities gathered to give thanks for the abundance of the land. Bread was baked from the first grain harvest, food was shared with neighbours, games were played, and people came together to celebrate another season of growth. Today, Lammas is observed by many Pagans, Druids, Wiccans, and anyone who enjoys living in rhythm with the seasons.

What I love most about Lammas is that it reminds us that harvest isn’t only about gardens.

It’s also about noticing what has quietly grown in our own lives.

Maybe you’ve learned a new skill.
Maybe you’ve strengthened a relationship.
Maybe you’ve started a healthier habit.
Maybe you’ve simply made it through a difficult season.

That counts, too.

As we step into what I like to call the Sunday of Summer, I hope you’ll take a moment to celebrate whatever has been growing in your life.

August has a way of reminding us to slow down, look around, and notice what’s finally beginning to ripen—both in our gardens and in ourselves.

Happy August, and happy Lammas!

Goodbye, July.

You were full of surprises.

You started with a rainstorm that left many people dealing with flooded basements and soggy backyards. My garden was practically underwater... and somehow my fern looked at all that rain and thought, “Excellent. Let’s double in size.”

It felt like a fitting metaphor for the month.

Growth doesn’t always arrive under perfect conditions.

This month brought lake days, quiet afternoons, time with friends, a trip to Toronto to spend some much-appreciated mom time with my daughter (yes, I helped clean her room... we’ll see if she notices this part 😉), and one of my biggest milestones of the year: my very first workshop.

Seeing people connect, ask questions, and leave feeling empowered reminded me why I started building these in the first place. Now I’m already dreaming up the next ones.

As July comes to a close, I’m feeling grateful.

For growth that isn’t always obvious.

For people who make life richer.

For moments of rest.

And for new possibilities that are beginning to take shape.

Hello, August... I have a feeling you’re going to be a good one.
