We use an interdisciplinary, evidenced based approach in providing ABA therapy. We offer a variety of ABA Services to suit each child’s unique needs.

The Portia Learning Centre’s individualized ABA treatment programs follow a developmental and interdisciplinary approach for children of all ages, starting at 6 months of age. Our team of Behaviour Analysts, ABA Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Psychotherapists, and Psychologists are here to help you and your family. We also offer worldwide supervision services.

💙 We Had a Great Time at the Fall Festival 🍂

Our booth was all set up and ready to connect with families at this year's Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services - CFMWS Fall Festival!

It was a beautiful day to be out in the community, meeting Canadian Armed Forces families and sharing how we support individuals of all ages.

From ABA therapy and assessments to speech and language, occupational therapy, parent training, and more, we loved chatting about the many ways we're here to help families thrive.

💙 Free Monthly Sessions for Military Families

We're proud to share that Charlene volunteers one day each month to offer free developmental screenings and parent coaching sessions for Canadian Armed Forces families through Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services - CFMWS.

She's been doing this for over two years now!

These in-person sessions happen on the third Wednesday of each month, with the location rotating between our Ottawa-area centres:
📅 October 21 - Nepean
📅 November 18 - Kanata
🕥 Screening slots at 10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m., parent coaching at 1:30 p.m.

Any military family with questions about their child's development, challenging behaviours, or other complex needs is warmly invited to connect with us.

One of our favourite spaces at the Nepean location is our calming Light Room!

With soft LED lighting and soothing projected effects, this room transforms into a peaceful, sensory-friendly retreat.

It's the perfect space to help children:
✨ Self-regulate and calm their bodies
✨ Explore gentle sensory input
✨ Take a break when feeling overwhelmed
✨ Identify and talk about their emotions with our feelings posters

From the crash pads and therapy balls to the cozy stuffed animals, every element is designed to help our learners feel safe, grounded, and ready to engage.

This week, our own Charlene Gervais, M. ADS, BCBA, R.B.A (Ont.) presented "Making Transitions Easier: Practical Strategies for Everyday Routines" as part of a family workshop hosted with the Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA) .

Everyday transitions, like stopping a favourite activity or moving to something new, can feel hard for many children.

Opportunities like this mean so much to us.

Getting to teach, learn, and collaborate alongside our community is at the heart of what we do.

Say hello to Yigit Ali, Supervised Clinical Lead at our Kanata location!

Yigit Ali graduated from Carleton University in 2025 with a degree in Psychology. He has a strong passion for mental health, neurodiversity, and culturally responsive care.

His research explored how immigrant families understand autism, and how culture and stigma can shape their access to care. He brings that same dedication to his work with children and families at Portia every day.

He's committed to helping every child reach their fullest potential.

How do you know therapy is actually working? At Portia, the answer comes down to data.

Ontario clinical psychologist Dr. Dillon Browne explains why progress monitoring is so important. Behaviour analysts are incredibly strong at tracking progress over time, and Portia developed its own software to do exactly that.
