🍂 We are officially in our autumn era at Thorncliffe!

Our residents have been getting creative and bringing all the beautiful colours of the season indoors with these gorgeous handmade fall centrepieces. 🍁

A little creativity, a lot of laughter, and beautiful creations to brighten up our home for the season.

At Thorncliffe, activities are about so much more than keeping busy; they’re about creativity, connection, friendship and enjoying the little things together.

And judging by these centrepieces… our residents definitely understood the assignment! 🍁👏

Our amazing Nursing Team recently completed their anual CPR training. Because when it comes to the health and safety of our residents, being prepared matters.

Emergencies don’t come with a warning, and having a team with the knowledge, confidence and skills to respond when every second counts is an important part of the care we provide at Thorncliffe.

We are incredibly proud of our Nursing Team for continuing to learn, train and keep their skills sharp. 👏❤️

Great care isn’t only about being there every day, it’s about being ready when you’re needed most.

🩷 On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink. 🩷

This October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Thorncliffe family will be wearing pink every Wednesday.

We wear pink to honour the residents, staff, family members and friends who have courageously faced breast cancer, those who are fighting today, the survivors who remind us of the strength of the human spirit, and the loved ones we carry in our hearts. 🎀

Behind every pink ribbon is a person. A family. A story of courage, fear, hope, strength and love.

So every Wednesday this month, we’ll proudly add a little more pink to Thorncliffe as a simple reminder that no one fights alone. 🩷

And we invite all of our families, friends and visitors to wear pink when visiting us on Wednesdays too! Together, let’s fill Thorncliffe with pink and show our support for everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.

We see you. We honour you. We stand with you. 🩷

🌈 In Loving Memory of Bella 🐾❤️

For more than 14 years, Bella was part of the heart of Thorncliffe.

Some souls simply seem to be born with a purpose, and Bella’s was to make people happy. And what an incredible job she did. ❤️

She didn’t need words to know when someone needed a little extra love. She offered companionship, comfort, laughter and countless smiles simply by being there. Over the years, she became so much more than a beloved dog, she became family.

Bella loved so many people throughout her years at Thorncliffe, and in return, she was loved beyond measure by residents, families and staff alike.

After more than 14 beautiful years of spreading happiness, our sweet Bella has crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

There will never be another Bella, but what a gift it was to have her as part of our lives for so long.

She came to Thorncliffe to bring joy.
She stayed long enough to become part of our story.
And she left this world knowing just how deeply she was loved.

Run free, beautiful girl. 🐾🌈❤️
Thank you for every cuddle, every smile and every heart you made a little happier.

You were born to make people happy Bella and you did exactly that.

🍂 Fall has arrived at Thorncliffe Place.

There is something so comforting about this time of year, the changing leaves, crisp mornings, warm drinks and the feeling of gathering together indoors.

At Thorncliffe, fall means cozy conversations, seasonal activities, familiar traditions and plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy the simple things with friends.

A warm cup of tea, a soft blanket and good company can make an ordinary autumn day feel very special.

Here’s to a season filled with warmth, friendship and beautiful moments together.

Retirement doesn’t mean giving up your purpose—it can mean discovering a new one. ❤️

The talented ladies of the Thorncliffe Quilting Club have been busy creating beautiful handmade quilts for children in Mexico. Every stitch represents hours of dedication, friendship and love.

We were incredibly proud to attend and to have our project featured at the Quilt Walk in the Woods, hosted by Mad About Patchwork. We are so grateful for their encouragement and continued support of this meaningful initiative.

This project gives our residents an opportunity to share their talents, work toward a common goal and make a difference in the lives of children thousands of kilometres away.

Having a sense of purpose matters at every age—and these incredible ladies continue to show us just how powerful giving back can be. 🧵🪡

Staying active and engaged is about so much more than keeping busy. Meaningful activities can provide a sense of purpose, encourage creativity, build confidence and create opportunities for friendship and connection.

At Thorncliffe Place, our residents are encouraged to participate in activities they enjoy, try something new and share plenty of smiles along the way.

Playing Loteria has become a special tradition for our residents as we celebrate Mexican Independence Day together.
