🍂 A reflection for Thanksgiving weekend.

In my meditations this week, I found myself coming back to the importance of being grateful for the small things, the simple, easy moments we can sometimes take for granted.

Life doesn’t always go as planned. We stumble, we struggle, stuff happens. When challenges hit, it’s easy to lose perspective and forget all the good that’s still there.

This is where yoga and meditation can help. They give us a little space to pause, breathe, and find our way back to ourselves. Not to make life perfect, but to help us meet it with a little more perspective, patience, and trust.

I guess this is also why I continue to walk this path of yoga and meditation. It’s a practice of coming back, again and again, to what matters.

This Thanksgiving weekend, may we take a moment to pause, breathe, and appreciate the small things that make this life meaningful. 🍃

With gratitude,
Devinder

OCTOBER TEACHING THEME: THE PRACTICE OF BELONGING 🌿

October feels like a beautiful month to pause and reflect on belonging.

As we celebrate 18 years of PranaShanti Yoga Centre, I’ve been thinking about what these years have really been about.

Yes, there has been so much yoga — classes, trainings, workshops, retreats, teachers and students.

But underneath it all, I think there has always been a deeper practice: belonging.

Belonging to the body — listening, noticing and learning to feel at home within ourselves.

Belonging to the breath — having a place to return to, again and again.

Belonging to community — practising together, learning from each other and sharing this journey.

And belonging in change — allowing ourselves to grow and evolve, even when we don’t know exactly where we’re going.

Maybe yoga isn’t about having all the answers.

Maybe it’s about learning to stay connected while things change.

To listen.
To return.
To be present.
To grow.
To belong.

I’m looking forward to exploring this theme with you throughout October.

18 years of PranaShanti. 18 years of practice, connection, learning and community. And still so much to discover.

See you in class this month! 💛

I’ve been teaching yoga for a long time.

And the longer I teach, the less interested I am in teaching people to do more.

More poses.
More intensity.
More flexibility.
More achievement.

I’m much more interested in helping people pay attention.

To their breath.
To the way they move.
To what their body is telling them.
To the habits and beliefs they bring onto the mat.

Because eventually, the yoga mat disappears and real life begins.

That’s where I think yoga gets really interesting.

I’ve watched people come to yoga looking for flexibility and discover strength.

People come looking for exercise and discover stillness.

People come because something hurts and, over time, learn to listen to their bodies differently.

And I’ve learned something from all of them.

Yoga isn’t about becoming a better version of yourself.

It’s about becoming more intimately acquainted with the person you already are.

That’s something I’m still learning, too.

And perhaps that’s one of the gifts of teaching:
you never really stop being a student.

SEPTEMBER THEME: STAYING BALANCED AS THE SEASONS CHANGE 🍂

As summer begins to soften into fall, I’ve been thinking about all the things I do to keep myself feeling balanced when the seasons change.

I’ve been on the yoga path quite seriously since 2000 — and dabbling in yoga long before that. Over the years, I’ve collected a lot of practices, teachings, books and manuals.

Some things come and go.

And some things stand the test of time.

Those are the things I want to share with you this September.

Simple, practical practices for supporting a strong immune system, keeping the nervous system steady, finding a little more calm when life gets crazy, holding it together under stress, and simply… keeping going.

I’ll be pulling from my own “stash” of old books and manuals — teachings that have stayed with me throughout the years and continue to prove their value.

No complicated formulas. No chasing the latest wellness trend.

Just practices that have been tried, tested and lived.

Join me Thursdays at 6:00 pm and Sundays at 9:30 am, online or in person at PranaShanti Yoga Centre

And join me for our monthly Meditation Group and Breathwork & Sound Immersion at PranaShanti Yoga Centre.

September is a good time to come back to what steadies you. 🌿

Happy Friday! ☀️

There’s something about the end of August that makes me pause and take it all in.

Summer is winding down, and I’m feeling deeply grateful for what has been an amazing summer — sunshine, long days, time outside, laughter, adventures, and so many moments shared with friends, both old and new. 💛

Somehow, summer reminds us that life doesn’t always need to be complicated. Sometimes it’s simply about being together. Sitting around a table. Going for a walk. Sharing a meal. Moving our bodies. Laughing until our cheeks hurt. Making time for the people who matter.

And perhaps that’s one of the greatest gifts of summer — connection.

As we begin to move toward September, I’m carrying that feeling with me. A little more presence. A little more joy. A little more appreciation for the people and moments that make life meaningful.

The seasons change, but we get to choose what we carry forward. 🌿

Here’s to soaking up these final days of summer, celebrating the memories we’ve made, and welcoming whatever comes next.

Happy Friday, friends. Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy each other, and enjoy this beautiful life. 💛
