💙 Meet the Team Tuesday: Rowen! 💙

If you’ve ever walked through the doors at Owen Sound Gardens, chances are you’ve been greeted by Rowen’s warm smile. For the last three years, Rowen has been a vital part of our family—starting out as a server in our dining room, and recently transitioning to our Wellness Department as a Personal Support Worker.

Rowen is currently in the RN program at Georgian College with big dreams of becoming a Nurse Practitioner one day. Our residents have literally watched her grow up, transitioning from a high school student to a brilliant college future-nurse.

We asked Rowen to share a few of her favorite things about Owen Sound Gardens:

✨ Her Favorite Part of the Job: "Hands down, the residents. Absolutely them."

✨ A Memorable Moment: Last year for her high school prom, Rowen and her date came into Owen Sound Gardens fully dressed up to take photos with the residents before heading to the dance. (Needless to say, there weren't many dry eyes in the building!)

✨ Her Words to Live By: "In a world where you can be anything, be kind."

What Rowen didn't share is why we love her so much. If you ask Rowen about any resident in our building, she can tell you their name, their kids' names, how they take their morning coffee, and even their pet's name. She's the kind of person who shows up on her days off just to paint a resident's nails or help them get ready for a big event.

Rowen, we are so incredibly lucky to have your kindness, your dedication, and your bright energy at Owen Sound Gardens. We are cheering you on through nursing school!

​Peter shared some heartfelt insights about the Owen Sound region and the growth of Owen Sound Gardens/East Court Residences:

​Q: What sparked the dream for Owen Sound Gardens?

A: "Seeing the profound need in Owen Sound not just for housing, but for vibrant, supported senior living. We didn't just build Owen Sound Gardens; we created a continuum of care and an active adult lifestyle community, starting with East Court Residences' townhouses and semi-private homes."

​Q: What makes you most proud?

A: "Honestly, just walking through the front doors and seeing the smiles on everyone's faces. It tells me we succeeded."

​Q: How has our community evolved?

A: "I'm so pleased to see how Owen Sound Gardens has become a thriving, joyful place. We are running near full capacity with a strong demand, and that doesn't feel business-like to me—it feels warm. It shows that our family of staff and residents have truly come together to make this a great place to live."

​Q: What is your vision for the future?

A: "To keep this warm, caring environment thriving and growing. We are looking forward to starting the next phase of East Court Residences very soon with the build of our eight-story, active adult lifestyle apartment building. We want to offer even more options for active seniors in Owen Sound."

❤️ A Little Note From Me to You!

Hi, everyone. I'm Kelsey Wellhauser, the Sales and Marketing Manager here at Owen Sound Gardens. You might have heard me talking on the radio during our "Ask The Expert" events or seen me out and about in the community, but today I wanted to share a bit about why I love what I do.

I've been here since before our doors officially opened, which means I've had the immense privilege of welcoming every single Resident who calls this place home. I know their names, I know most of their life stories, and getting to know them is truly the best part of my day!

Making a move to a new community can feel overwhelming, which is why I'm here to do the heavy lifting. Whether it means helping organize down sizers, realitors, navigating medical information or measuring a tight corner to make sure your prized curio cabinet fits perfectly - I'm on it!

My goal is to make your next step as smooth and joyful as possible.

​We talk a lot about staying active, but our independent retirement residents don’t just talk—they show up! Every week, our building is buzzing with energy. From building core strength to just having a blast with friends, there is something here for everyone.

​Here’s a look at what our weekly fitness lineup looks like:

​VON SMART Fitness (Twice a week!): Perfect for functional strength and keeping those daily movements easy and safe.

​Drum Fit: High energy, rhythmic, and an absolute crowd favorite for cardio and brain health.

​Light Chair Yoga: Deep breathing, flexibility, and a great way to center the mind.

​Sciatica Stretch: Targeted relief to keep everyone moving comfortably and pain-free.

​Why do we place such a big focus on fitness? Because staying active means staying independent. It improves balance, boosts mood, keeps joints happy, and—most importantly—it’s an amazing way to build community.

Pinkies up! 🫖✨

​Yesterday, our beautiful community was transformed into a classic high tea parlor! We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon hosting a High Tea social for all of our lovely ladies and gentlemen.

​Our amazing recreation recreation team whipped up a delicious spread, including:

​🥪 Delicate, handmade tea sandwiches

​🫖 A grand selection of aromatic teas

​🧁 A mountain of gorgeous baked goods (the cream puffs were the absolute crowd favorite! 😍)

​With beautiful decorations setting the mood and some lovely music playing in the background, the room was filled with laughter, storytelling, and so much joy.

​Thank you to everyone who came out and made today so incredibly special. We already can't wait for the next one! 💖
