Home & Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce HCSS staff & volunteers provide support to promote independence & enhance quality of life for seniors and adults-with-disabilities. www.hcssgreybruce.com

We believe that people are worthy of human dignity and respect, and deserve the support to maintain quality of life and independence within their community. We believe that people deserve a caring environment, which promotes a personal responsibility towards a healthy existence. We believe that people working in partnership with a collaborative spirit through volunteer service, is the best method

for providing a social support system of services to assist in the individual attaining a level of personal well-being. Such a system then is: consumer centered, well coordinated, resource sensitive, well planned, accountable, equitably accessible and offers an array of services directed towards optimizing and maintaining quality of well-being for individuals within their community. Our purpose is to manage and deliver Ministry of Health approved services to eligible seniors and physically challenged adults within Grey and Bruce Counties, including the City of Owen Sound. The services we provide are to assist clients in maintaining their independence within their community and daily lives.

After more than a decade of dedication, kindness, and care, Janice is retiring from her role as Program Assistant at our Adult Day Program in Markdale.
Since joining HCSS in 2015, Janice has been a familiar and welcoming face, bringing warmth, laughter, and support to countless clients, families, volunteers, and staff.

Thank you, Janice, for everything you've done to help make our program such a special place. We wish you all the happiness, relaxation, and adventures this next chapter has to offer! 💐😊

🤠🐴 Yeehaw! Cowboy Day at the Owen Sound Adult Day Program! 🐴🤠
We had a fantastic day celebrating all things western! From cowboy hats and plaid shirts to fun activities and lots of laughter, everyone enjoyed showing off their cowboy and cowgirl spirit. We even posed for some hilarious "Wanted" photos.
Most importantly, we shared great memories, friendship, and plenty of smiles along the way.

🎄🎅 Christmas in July is in full swing! 🎅🎄
A huge thank you to Kim's Place for accommodating our special lunch requests this week and helping make the celebrations extra festive!
This week's menu featured:
🥪 Ham and cheese sliders
🥪 Chicken salad with dried cranberries on a ciabatta bun
🍠 Sweet potato and marshmallow casserole
And that's not all! Guests also enjoyed a delicious soup to start and mini tarts topped with whipped cream for dessert.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these holiday-inspired meals such a wonderful treat in the middle of summer! ❤️☀️🎄

Creativity was in full swing at the Wiarton Adult Day Program! Clients built social connections, and supported their emotional well-being while designing their very own tote bags. Using stencils, paint, and plenty of imagination, each participant transformed a simple bag into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that reflects their unique personality and style with each client leaving not only with a practical tote bag, but also with a sense of pride in their artistic accomplishment. 🎨✨👜

We were fortunate to welcome Jennifer Frankem, Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate, to our Wiarton Adult Day program, where she shared a selection of her poetry. Her work, reflecting everyday life and personal experiences, resonated deeply with our clients. What an incredible time we had on our African Safari adventure last week! 🦒🦓🐘🐆🦁
Clients boarded the bus and were given a pair of binoculars and a safari hat to help enhance their experience. Along the journey, we spotted a giraffe, zebra, elephant, cheetah, and lion!

Our wonderful tour guide, Jess, shared fascinating facts about each animal, allowing everyone to learn while enjoying the adventure. A huge thank you goes out to our amazing volunteers who helped bring our vision to life by playing the roles of our featured animals.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this experience such a memorable one.

Sun, sand, and wagging tails! ☀️🏖️🐕 Participants from the Wiarton Adult Day Program had a wonderful beach day and enjoyed the many benefits of pet therapy with Shrimp (the dog). Smiles were everywhere! 💙🐾
