Kids with hyperopia might see the board clearly, but they can struggle with reading, writing, or focusing up close. Their eyes constantly work overtime to keep things sharp, causing fatigue, headaches, or restlessness.
But here’s the thing: when blurry is their normal, they won’t ask for help. They don’t know what they’re missing, they just assume this is how everyone sees the world.
That’s why regular eye exams are essential, even without symptoms.
Book an eye exam before school starts.
Their learning and quality of life depend on it.

📚✏️ Backpacks? Ready. Laptops? Charged. Eyes? Checked?

As kids head back to school, don’t forget one of the most important tools for learning: clear vision.

👀 80% of classroom learning is visual — yet many vision issues go unnoticed because kids don’t know what “normal” looks like.

✅ Book their OHIP-covered eye exam today and help them see their full potential.

The WEI Optometry Clinic lent a helping hand at the Ontario Summer Games this weekend. Optometrists from the clinic provided emergency eye care services for athletes during the games. Dr. Kristine Dalton led the clinical team whose aim was to treat athletes quickly and efficiently to reduce the burden on local emergency services. As primary eye care providers, optometrists are ideal first points of contact to triage and treat acute eye injuries that can come up in the context of sport and other avenues of life; Dr. Dalton hopes that optometrists will continue to be involved with events such as the Ontario Summer Games in the future.

👀 If it’s your eyes, start with your eye doctor.

Blurry vision? Eye pain? Flashes or floaters? Red, irritated eyes? Sudden changes in your vision?

Your optometrist is trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye and vision conditions—not just prescribe glasses.

Don’t spend hours in the ER, googling or wondering where to go. When something doesn’t feel right with your eyes, call us. We’ll assess the problem, start treatment if needed, or get you to the right specialist if necessary.

Your vision is too important to ignore. 💙

🔥 Did you know wildfire smoke and cataracts give very similar colour changes to our vision. 🔥

You’ve probably noticed everything outside in Grey-Bruce looks pretty yellow today, due to smoke from wildfires being blown into our area. Like cataracts, smoke in the air scatters more light from the blue end of the colour spectrum. Meaning less of it reaches the eye. This gives everything a warmer or more yellow appearance. The same process happens with cataracts, as they grow they scatter more blue light and give our vision a more yellow appearance. Cataracts also cause a gradual blurring of vision.

Call us today to book your full comprehensive eye exam to check your cataracts. 📞

👀 In the blink of an eye, you’ll be retired… not working, just scrolling. 😅
The good news? If you’re going to spend hours on your phone, remember to blink! Blinking helps keep your eyes lubricated and can reduce the symptoms of dry eye.
So go ahead and scroll… just don’t forget to blink while you’re planning that retirement. 😉✨

👏We love an educational moment 👏

We know it’s confusing but we love when our patients get it right!

Progressives refer to a no line bifocal lens where the power changes in the glasses from the top to the bottom of the lens without seeing a physical line on the glasses. 👓

Transitions is one of the brand names that make photochromic lenses, these lenses change from clear to sunglasses when exposed to UV light i.e. when you go outside. ☀️
