Can’t Get Comfortable? Their Body May Be Telling You Something.

Does your dog keep getting up, circling, stretching or moving from the bed to the floor?

Sometimes they are simply restless. But frequent repositioning can also be a quiet sign that their body is uncomfortable.

Animal chiropractic care may help identify areas of stiffness, restricted movement or muscular tension that are making it harder for them to settle.

By supporting healthier movement through the spine and joints, chiropractic care may help your dog rest more comfortably.

A sudden change in behaviour should always be discussed with your veterinarian.

What if one simple change could make a real difference for your dog? Not another training class, just regular opportunities to safely be a dog. I’m excited to introduce a limited time 4 Week Nature Reset at Pawradise Acres!

For 4 weeks, you’ll commit to visiting once or twice a week to give your dog consistent off-leash freedom in a safe, private environment and see what changes you notice, at a discounted rate.

This is a wonderful option for sensitive dogs, busy dogs or dogs who don’t have a safe place to enjoy off-leash freedom. Many dogs benefit tremendously from regular opportunities to move, sniff, explore and simply exist without the pressure of navigating busy neighbourhoods. Folks often notice improvements in their dog’s ability to relax at home, focus during training and recover from stressful situations.

Your visits include access to all of Pawradise Acres, including our 1-acre fenced training yard with toys and agility equipment, perfect for sniffing, running, playing and practicing skills and the Enchanted Forest, featuring 2–3 acres of fenced woodland where dogs can explore trails, investigate new scents and truly decompress in nature.

30-Day Nature Reset Packages
4 one-hour visits (once per week): $65
8 one-hour visits (twice per week): $120
(half hour visits also available)

Come discover what a month of consistent enrichment and decompression can do. Send me a message if you’d like to chat about your 4 Week Nature Reset!

Has your normally affectionate cat suddenly become a little… grumpy?

Maybe they no longer want to be picked up. They move away when you pet a certain area, become irritated with another pet, hide more often, or unexpectedly hiss, swat or bite.

Before assuming it is simply an attitude problem, consider what your cat may be trying to communicate.

Cats are very good at hiding pain. Because they cannot tell us, “That spot hurts,” discomfort may appear as a change in behaviour instead.

Watch for changes such as:

🐾 Resisting being picked up or held
🐾 Flinching, tensing or turning when touched
🐾 Hissing, swatting or biting unexpectedly
🐾 Avoiding affection or interaction
🐾 Hiding or sleeping in different places
🐾 Becoming less tolerant of children or other pets
🐾 No longer enjoying being brushed
🐾 Acting restless or unable to get comfortable

These behaviours do not automatically mean that your cat has a spinal or joint problem. Fear, stress, illness, dental discomfort and other medical concerns can also cause behavioural changes—which is why a sudden or significant change should always be discussed with your veterinarian.

Once underlying medical concerns have been assessed, animal chiropractic care may help determine whether restricted movement, muscular tension or discomfort within the joints and spine could be contributing to the way your cat is moving, resting or responding to touch.

Your cat may not be “giving you attitude.”

They may be setting a boundary around a body that does not feel quite right.

Pay attention when their behaviour changes. Sometimes the first sign of discomfort is not a limp—it is simply a cat who no longer wants to be touched the way they once did.

Did you know Reiki can help cats adjust to change?

Cats are deeply sensitive animals. A move, a new pet, visitors, construction, a change in routine, a loss in the home, or even a shift in the household energy can affect how safe and settled they feel.

And because cats often hide stress, it may not look dramatic at first.

You may notice them hiding more, grooming less or too much, avoiding certain spaces, being more reactive, eating differently, or seeming less like themselves.

Animal Reiki gives cats a quiet, gentle space to settle their nervous system and feel supported without pressure. There is no forcing, no handling, and no expectation. They get to receive in the way that feels safest for them.

For sensitive, senior, grieving, newly adopted, or anxious cats, Reiki can be a beautiful way to help them feel more grounded, calm, and secure through change.

Sometimes our animals do not need us to fix everything.

Sometimes they need us to create a calm space where their body and energy can soften.

If your cat is going through a transition, Reiki may be a supportive place to begin. Contact Moe at momentousreiki.ca or call/text for more information at 613-818-5108.

Is your dog dragging their back feet?

That little scuffing sound when they walk…
worn-down nails on the back paws…
their toes folding under…
or their back end looking weaker than usual…

These can all be signs that something deeper is going on.

Back foot dragging can be connected to:

✔ spinal or nerve irritation
✔ hip, pelvis, or lower back discomfort
✔ weakness in the hind end
✔ arthritis or mobility changes
✔ muscle imbalance
✔ reduced body awareness or coordination
✔ injury or compensation patterns

Animal chiropractic care may help by assessing how the spine, pelvis, hips, and nervous system are functioning together. When movement is restricted or the body is compensating, it can affect how well your dog places their feet, carries weight, and moves through their back end.

At Johnson's Chiropractic Animal Clinic, we look at the whole animal — not just the symptom.

If your dog is dragging their back feet, stumbling, wearing their nails unevenly, or struggling to get up, it is worth having them assessed.
