Discover how adding Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) to qEEG changes the game in neurotherapy assessment and protocol development. This post breaks down what ERPs reveal about brain processing that resting-state maps miss — and how that information leads to more accurate, individualized treatment plans. A quantitative EEG (qEEG) can provide a remarkable amount of information about how the brain is functioning. By examining electrical activity recorded from the scalp, we can evaluate patterns of brainwave activity, regional differences, connectivity, and the balance between slower and faster frequen...

Curious about neurofeedback but overwhelmed by the jargon? Addiction is, at its core, a brain condition. Disrupted neural circuits involved in reward processing, craving, and executive control drive the cycle of substance use even when someone desperately wants to stop. That's why brain-based interventions are gaining attention in addiction treatment.

A 2025 mini review published in Frontiers in Psychiatry examined the evidence for neurofeedback across substance and behavioral addictions. The findings are encouraging: EEG-based neurofeedback, particularly using the alpha-theta protocol, has demonstrated reductions in craving, anxiety, and relapse rates among individuals with alcohol and substance dependence.

A separate systematic review of 32 studies found improvements in abstinence rates, reduced cravings, and enhanced psychological functioning. More recent research is also exploring neurofeedback applications for opioid use disorder and stimulant addiction with promising early outcomes.

Recovery requires more than willpower. It requires rewiring the brain. Neurofeedback provides a pathway to do exactly that.
