🦠 STOP
If you have an actively swollen lymph node, don’t massage it!
I know... it’s tempting. 🙈
Most people assume that if something is swollen, they should massage it to help it go away. But when a lymph node is enlarged because your body is fighting an infection, that swelling is actually a sign it’s doing its job. 💚
Instead of focusing directly on the swollen node, support your lymphatic system as a whole.
💦 Stay hydrated.
🚶♀️ Move your body.
🌬️ Practice Diaphragmatic breathing.
🫶 Apply warm compresses to the area.
Your lymphatic system is incredibly smart. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is support it is leave it alone!
Think of it like helping traffic move in front of the bottleneck instead of trying to force more cars through the jam.
** UNPOPULAR OPINION**
Although I wouldn’t do a full body opener sequence, I still like to open up the termini (collar bone area).
Because it is the MAIN DRAIN, I feel supporting just this one area to remain as open as possible is helpful without creating too much of a pull through the entire system. But that’s just me.
Support the system…not the swollen node!
⚠️ If a lymph node remains swollen for several weeks, continues to enlarge, becomes very hard, or is accompanied by concerning symptoms, see a doctor.
