10 years of ARC. 💜

Yesterday I sat down to make a little montage to celebrate ARC’s 10th anniversary.

“Little montage” 😂

Instead, I spent the entire day yesterday and part of this morning going through ten years of our lives.

Ten years of patients. Team members. Babies. Families. Finish lines. Community events. Ridiculous moments. Hard moments. Big wins. Tiny wins. Different versions of ARC. And very different versions of us.

I cried. Obviously.

Ten years ago, Andrew and I thought we were opening a physiotherapy clinic.

Looking through all of these memories, I realize we were building something much bigger.

We were building a community.

And this song couldn’t have been anything other than Home, by Phillip Phillips

Home has been part of Andrew’s and my story from the beginning. It played through those early years of building a life together, buying our first home, starting a business, and getting married.

We actually played Home as we shared our first kiss after our wedding vows. 💜

And somehow, all these years later, it feels like the perfect soundtrack to this little place we’ve built together too.

To every patient who has trusted us with their care, every team member who has left a piece of themselves here, every person who has referred someone they love to us, and every person in this community who has supported this little family business:

Thank you.

You are part of these ten years too.

Rooted in Care. Committed to Community.

Happy 10th birthday, ARC. 💜

12 years of marriage to this guy. ❤️

I fell in love with his kindness first. Then his drive. His loyalty. And the way he throws himself completely into the things and people he cares about.

Andrew has always had this incredible passion for doing things well. Whether it’s being a physiotherapist, building a business, being a dad, tackling some ridiculous project at home, or apparently ordering enough oysters to feed a small coastal village. 😂

And somehow, we fit.

I have always been the one with a million ideas. I need to create, imagine, build, change things, make them better, then probably change them again. 😏 Andrew has this beautiful way of complementing that part of me. He gives my ideas somewhere to land. He brings focus, determination and follow-through, while still giving me the space to dream big.

Together we’ve built a marriage, a family, a home and, of course, ARC. None of it has been perfectly tidy or easy. Twelve years of marriage means we’ve lived through some really beautiful seasons and some incredibly hard ones too.

But through all of it, we’ve kept choosing each other.

And after 12 years, I still admire the man I married. I still love his huge heart, his determination, his slightly obsessive enthusiasm for whatever he’s currently interested in 😂 and the life we continue to build together.

Happy 12 years, Andrew. ❤️

I’d choose you again.

And yes, apparently the traditional 12th anniversary gift is an obscene amount of shellfish. 🦪😂

We’re learning to cultivate instead of conquer. 🌱
👇
That’s the BIG shift Andrew and I have made this year as we continue to navigate life as partners, parents and business owners.

We both want to move our bodies and feel strong, but our why and our how look completely different.

For me, movement is about cultivating longevity, gratitude and balance. I love working out at home with a guided fitness program and a trainer who encourages me to connect with my body, but also with my mind and spirit. I’m not competitive. My motivation comes from turning inward, listening to my body and discovering that I’m often capable of a little more than I thought.

Andrew? VERY different. 😂

He loves the gym. He loves having a trainer physically there, coaching him Jay Cook , challenging him and safely pushing him to the edge of his comfort zone. The competitive runner in him is always looking for that little bit more.

His why? He wants to be the best version of himself as a husband, dad and business owner.

Different whys.
Different workouts.
Same commitment to taking care of the bodies carrying us through this life. ❤️

And yes, we’re also secretly competing to see which middle-aged clinic owner can get a six-pack first.

Is this an entirely realistic goal?

We’ll circle back. 😂

But here’s the point: there is no single right way to move your body.

Maybe you love the gym. Maybe you need your living room, a yoga mat and someone encouraging you through a screen. Maybe you run, walk, lift, dance, swim or garden.

Find movement that gives you a reason to keep showing up.

We’re not trying to conquer our bodies anymore.

We’re learning to cultivate them. 🌱

What’s YOUR why?

Date night. ❤️

When you own and operate a business together, are raising three kids and have two dogs waiting for you at home, setting aside time to just be us isn’t always easy.

Especially because apparently we’re terrible at not talking about the two things we love most: our family and ARC Physio. 😂

We talked about our kids. We talked about the clinic. We talked about how proud we are of our team and how incredibly hard they work. And somewhere in the conversation, I realized that ARC really has become an extension of our home.

We want people to walk through the doors of ARC and feel comfortable, cared for and genuinely looked after. The same way we want the people we love to feel when they walk through our front door at home.

And then we changed the subject. Sort of. 😂

We talked BOOKS! 📚

We don’t often read the same genres, but every once in a while our reading worlds collide and we LOVE comparing notes and, most importantly, our star ratings. ⭐️

We both recently finished The Shampoo Effect by Jenny Jackson and loved it.

Next up, I’m diving into the second book in a mystery thriller series by Karin Slaughter, The Secrets We Hide, while Andrew might read Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall, which I read last year and STILL get teary thinking about that ending. 🥹

So yes, date night was technically about spending time together.

Did we successfully avoid talking about our kids and ARC?

Absolutely not. 😂

But we had great food (thank you for a delicious meal 🫶), we talked about the people and things we love, and remembered to make a little time for us too. ❤️

I took Andrew to the barre this morning. 💪🩰

Yes. That barre. 😂

I chose movement today because, at 50, exercise has become less about how my body looks and much more about building the body I want to keep living in.

During perimenopause and menopause, declining estrogen accelerates bone loss. But here’s the empowering part: our bones are living tissue. Resistance training and weight-bearing impact exercise can stimulate bone formation and help maintain, and in some cases improve, bone density. 🦴💪

I’m much less interested in exercising to shrink my body these days.

I want to build it.

Build muscle.
Build stronger bones.
Build a body that keeps letting me do the things I love.

And Andrew?

He chose barre because it challenged him with movements he’s not used to. Keeping exercise varied and trying something new can be good for the body and the brain.

Plus, watching a physiotherapist discover tiny barre pulses brings me an unreasonable amount of joy. 😏😂

Movement doesn’t have to be punishment. Find something that challenges you, gives you joy and makes you want to come back.

How are YOU going to move your body today? 💜
