Please plan your trip up accordingly!
Safe travels!

Be advised, resurfacing work on the Inland Island Highway is causing major delays between Parksville and Nanaimo. Reports indicate that this work will continue on Thursday and Friday. Best recommendation is to exit at Parksville and drive up to Island Highway East in order to get around it. Either way, plan on any drives to or from Nanaimo taking longer than expected. ~Tom

( June 21st - 23rd )

Beautiful conditions! Blue skies and warm temperatures.

One running water source between trailhead dock and Margret Creek Camp. Approx 2hrs from trailhead

All bridges and river crossings ( Trolley ) are in good shape! Watch your fingers!

Main camp ( Saw blade & River sites ) great condition! Bear cache and latrine are clean and in good working shape.
River running happily and plentiful. Very cold yet refreshing!

Della Falls are flowing with force! The trail from the main campsite to the falls is quite rocky and grown in with salmon berries and fireweed.

Bugs are present and happy to share your morning coffee and evening snack. Bug spray and or net is a must.

Love Lake trail very dry and grown in. One river flowing while climbing ( crossing it twice ) highly recommend bringing enough water until you reach the lake. Bugs are very present at the top and at the lakes edge. The lake is completely thawed and swimmable! Super refreshing and a MUST !

Please remember that fires are not permitted within the park and along the trail! Many campsites had signs of open burning. Very scary in these hot and dry conditions.

An overall amazing trip and excited for the next group to experience the magic this trail has to offer ✨🌲🥾

-Minimal snow remains in shaded areas of the Love Lake trail.
-Bug activity is currently low, but it is recommended to carry bug repellent as a precaution.

Please note that fires are strictly prohibited within park boundaries. Unfortunately, there have been reports of unauthorized campfires at campsites and along the trail. Park rangers will be patrolling the area and issuing fines to those found responsible.

✅ Research before you go!

Another reminder to make sure you do your homework when it comes to preparing for this hike. It’s it very important to know the length, terrain, geography and any other components regarding the Della Falls / Love Lake Trails. We highly recommend carrying a satellite communication device.
