The Hawk Motorsports Safety Team was at Saratoga Speedway last night, it saw the running of the Bomber 100 and the Crash to Pass class was there as a supporting main and the race was lead off by the most unique Pace Truck we’ve ever seen!

Before the 2nd day of the Quinsam Classic began, members of the Hawk Rescue Motorsports Safety Team, along with Track Officals from Saratoga Speedway had the privilege to attend a training session hosted by Dr. Rob Seal, Medical Director of the Canadian Motorsports Response Team a FIA certified safety team. The Hawk Rescue Motorsports Safety Team recently purchased a “M.E.D. Board” (Motorsports Extrication Device), from CMRT, a device that is specifically designed for assisting in extricating a driver from a racer containment seat along with providing spinal motion restriction on patients. We also had the opportunity to practice using a PAX-Bags Boa, a unique lifting device also designed to lifting a patient out of a racing vehicle.
We are very thankful to Dr. Seal for taking time to come out to the track today and train us on some of the cutting edge safety equipment used in the highest levels of Motorsport.
We would also like to give a huge thanks to Nigel from Doppler-racing for acting as our patient/driver, as well the team behind the No. 14R Non-Wing Sprint Car for letting us their chassis for training.

That concludes the Quinsam Communications Group sprint car classic practice. It was a great day to be at the track. These guys are fast to say the least. It will be a great show this weekend up at Saratoga Speedway.

The HAWK RESCUE MOTORSPORTS SAFETY TEAM will be at Saratoga Speedway all weekend through Practice to the main events on Friday and Saturday to support the safety of drivers, crews and spectators. We hope to see you there for some of the fastest racing on Vancouver Island!

Quinsam Communications Group Sprint Car Classic - July 10/11

This weekend Saratoga Speedway welcomes the Northwest Sprint Tour for the first of two visits in 2026. The fastest cars to visit SMP all season, the NST brings the Northwest's best pavement Winged Sprint Cars to the tight 3/8ths-of-a-mile tri-oval.

Aaron Willison Racing comes into the weekend as the points leader off the strength of two wins to start the season at Evergreen Speedway and Penticton Speedway. Willison will return to the NST following back-to-back wins at Colorado National Speedway's Fourth of July Sprint Car Spectacular.

Willison's younger brother Ryan is the only other winner this season with the Northwest Sprint Tour, scoring his maiden NST win at the last race the series ran at Agassiz Speedway. Ryan also made the trip to Colorado National last weekend and scored two top ten runs.

Jeff Montgomery Racing "The Hurricane" sits second in NST points, with the defending series champion still searching for his first win of the 2026 season. Montgomery will look to close the gap on Willison with a strong run at his home track this weekend.

The Hawk Rescue Motorsports Safety Team is on site at saratoga_speedway for the inaugural running of the northwestsuperlatemodels Kennedy Classic, providing high quality medical, fire and rescue services to the participants and spectators. Last night, the crew enjoyed a meal put on by the management of the track and thekegsteakhouse. Cars will be on track Friday for qualifying and Saturday for the race. The main event will be televised on CHEK News on Saturday just after 6pm PST

HRMST - HAWK RESCUE MOTORSPORTS SAFETY TEAM

Over the past few weeks, you've probably seen posts related to our newest group within Hawk Rescue Services, but you're probably wondering what exactly our Motorsports Safety Team does.

We are a group of individuals within the company with a deep passion for all things motorsport, encompassing everything from go-karts to F1 and IndyCar, as well as every class in between. Hawk Rescue Services has been involved with both the former Western Speedway and is currently working with Saratoga Speedway, providing first responder services for the track when an on-track incident occurs. However, we soon began to realize something.
As many can guess, racing is expensive for both racers and venue owners. Volunteers make the racing world go around in all classes of car racing; sometimes, in certain events, those volunteers may lack the critical skills required to safely remove drivers from dangerous situations.

This was the genesis of the idea for a dedicated group of individuals who would focus their first aid and fire/rescue skills and tailor them to working with racers and their vehicles. The idea was to form a team that would have the ability, both in terms of skills and financial backing from sponsors, to provide these skills to tracks and racing series at the bare minimum cost to these venues, thereby keeping drivers safe wherever they may race.
Volunteers still make the racing world go around, and we are thankful to all the individuals who dedicate their free time each year at their local tracks.

We look forward to keeping you updated as the team grows from the ground up this year. Look for us at Saratoga Speedway at all racing events, and don't hesitate to come up and say hello; we love discussing our work and answering any questions you may have.
