June 18 is Autistic Pride Day, which is a celebration of autistic identity, community, and neurodiversity led by autistic people themselves.
It’s also a moment to recognize that identity is layered. Many autistic people are also part of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and those experiences overlap in real and meaningful ways. Pride can show up in more than one form, and each part of a person’s identity matters.
Inclusion means seeing the whole person, not just one piece of who they are, and making space for people to show up as their full selves without having to separate or simplify who they are.

More than 1.6 million people in Canada live with a learning disability. That’s more than the entire population of Manitoba.
June 15 to 21 is Learning Disabilities Week, a chance to recognize strengths, challenge barriers, and focus on what real inclusion looks like in everyday life.
That means clear communication, flexible supports, patience, respect, and making sure people can participate in ways that work for them.
Let’s focus on building supports around people and creating environments where everyone has a fair chance to be included and succeed.

Shout out to all the good boys and girls!
We’re talking about all the working animals out there doing the good work every day.
From guide dogs helping people get where they need to go, to service animals supporting independence, safety, and confidence, these animals make a real difference in people’s lives.
On International Working Animal Day, CVS is recognizing the incredible ways animals support people to live more independently, stay connected, and move through the world with a little more ease.

June is DeafBlind Awareness Month.
Did you know that DeafBlindness is a distinct disability, not simply a combination of hearing and vision loss? People who are DeafBlind communicate, connect, learn, work, and participate in their communities in many different ways.

National Deafblind Awareness Month was unanimously recognized by the Senate of Canada in 2015 and is connected to the legacy of Helen Keller, whose birthday is celebrated in June. It also highlights the importance of equitable access to Intervenor Services, which help people who are deafblind access information, communicate, and engage fully in their communities.
Let’s build greater understanding, increase accessibility, and support a future where people who are deafblind have the opportunities and supports they need to live, work, learn, and belong.

A more inclusive community starts with understanding, respect, and ensuring everyone has that opportunity to belong.

June is National Indigenous History Month. This is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the rich history, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across what is now called Canada.

At CVS, we acknowledge the importance of listening, learning, and supporting inclusive communities where Indigenous voices, cultures, and experiences are respected and valued.

We celebrate Pride and stand alongside the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, not just this month but throughout the year.

Today is World Day for Assistive Technology! Let’s recognize how assistive technology helps create more accessible, inclusive, and independent lives for millions of people around the world.

Assistive technology includes a plethora of tools such as communication devices, hearing aids, mobility supports, screen readers, adaptive equipment, and other technologies that help people participate fully in everyday life.

These tools are so important for reducing barriers and supporting access, inclusion, dignity, and choice for everyone in our communities!

What does an accessible community actually look like?
It’s a place where barriers are removed, voices are heard, and everyone has the same opportunity to participate fully.
National AccessAbility Week runs from May 31 to June 6, 2026.
This week is a reminder to recognize the leadership and lived experiences of people with disabilities, and to keep pushing for more accessible and inclusive communities all year long.
Accessibility is not a once a year conversation. It’s something we build every day.
