When grief, stress, and change hit at once, it can feel like too much.

Therapy offers a safe space to sort through it and find your footing.

You do not have to face it alone. Support is here when you are ready.

When is a tough week more? 🤯

We all face hard weeks—deadlines, responsibilities, unexpected challenges. But sometimes, what feels like just a busy week is actually emotional overload creeping in.

How do you tell the difference? Consider these signs:

• Your stress feels all-consuming, not just situational.
• Sleep gets restless, and your mood swings more than usual.
• Small irritations trigger intense reactions.
• You find it hard to enjoy things that usually bring joy.

Recognizing emotional overload early is key. It helps you pause, seek support, and prevent stress from spilling into every corner of life.

Remember, therapy offers a safe space to explore these feelings. It’s not just about surviving hard weeks—it’s about understanding yourself and building resilience.

What signs do you notice when life feels overwhelming? Let’s talk about how to spot emotional overload before it takes over.

Feeling nervous about your first therapy session? You’re not alone, and that’s completely okay.

The first session is really just a conversation. It’s a chance to get comfortable, share what’s on your mind at your own pace, and begin building trust with your therapist.

Expect a warm, welcoming space where there’s no pressure to go deep right away. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and how we can work together to help you feel more grounded.

Sessions usually last about 50 minutes, and the number of sessions depends on your unique needs. Some people find short-term therapy helpful, while others prefer ongoing support.

Remember, therapy is a process, not a race. It’s okay to start small and move at a pace that feels right for you.

What’s one thing you’d want your therapist to know before your first session?

Join us Saturday for the FREE caregiver support circle.

Caregiving can slowly become your entire identity. This month in our FREE Caregivers Circle, we will be exploring:
“Who Am I Beyond Caregiving?”

Together we will gently explore the loss of identity that can happen through caregiving, grief for the life you imagined, and reconnecting with yourself, your interests, and your joy — while learning how to make space for your own needs without guilt.

This is a warm, supportive, judgment-free space where caregivers can feel seen, heard, and supported.

Hosted by Sarah Marquette, Registered Psychotherapist at Guiding Compass Psychotherapy & Wellness. Email to [email protected] with any questions.

Why does family tension feel so unsettling?

When home feels tense or unpredictable, it’s often a signal—not just a problem. Family tension can point to deeper feelings like fear, hurt, or unmet needs that aren’t being said out loud.

For example, when children act out or parents pull back, these behaviors may hide insecurity or stress. A family member snapping in frustration may be struggling with anxiety or feeling unheard.

Understanding this can change how we respond. Instead of reacting to the tension itself, we can look at what each person needs—safety, connection, or reassurance.

This can help us meet family challenges with empathy and curiosity, creating space for healing rather than conflict.

What might your family’s tension be trying to tell you today?

Sometimes, sitting still and talking feels harder than it should.

For many people, the traditional therapy setting—quiet rooms and a chair—can feel confining or even overwhelming. When your mind is racing or your body craves movement, opening up can be a challenge.

That’s where walk and talk therapy comes in. Combining gentle movement with supportive conversation, these sessions take place outdoors on peaceful trails, allowing you to feel grounded and more at ease. Moving side by side often helps lower barriers, making it easier to explore difficult emotions and thoughts.

Research shows that physical activity can reduce anxiety and improve mood, which creates a natural flow in therapy conversations. For clients who find sitting still uncomfortable or who simply connect better when moving, walk and talk therapy offers a refreshing alternative.

At Guiding Compass Psychotherapy and Wellness, we tailor our approach to your comfort and needs. If sitting still feels limiting, walking while talking might help you feel more open, present, and connected to yourself.

Are you curious if walk and talk therapy could be the right fit for you? What has your experience been with movement and therapy?

Neurodivergent children and teens do not need to be fixed. They need to be understood and supported in ways that honor how they think and feel. Therapy that centers acceptance and empowerment can help build confidence instead of trying to change who they are. How have you seen therapy help a neurodivergent young person in your life?
