Learning how to regulate my nervous system has been and continues to be a journey.
Especially on days when life pulls you straight into survival mode before the sun is even fully up.
This morning was one of those mornings.
And it reminded me of something I talk about often with clients: regulation isn’t about never feeling stress, fear, overwhelm, or panic.
It’s about learning how to support yourself through those moments instead of abandoning yourself inside them.
Our nervous systems are constantly taking in information from the world around us. Stress, unpredictability, fear, caregiving, chronic illness, trauma, lack of rest — it all lives in the body.
Sometimes “stress management” gets talked about like it’s just bubble baths and positive thinking.
But for many people, stress is physical. It impacts digestion, sleep, pain levels, emotional regulation, energy, focus, and overall health.
That’s why I’ve become so intentional about creating a softer life where I can.
More grounding. More rest without guilt. Less chaos where possible. More moments that help my body feel safe.
Not because life is easy… but because our nervous systems need care too.
Healing isn’t about never getting overwhelmed.
Sometimes healing looks like:
✨ noticing when your body is activated
✨ slowing down instead of pushing through
✨ giving yourself compassion instead of criticism
✨ learning what safety feels like in your own body
Maybe that’s what healing really is.
Not avoiding hard moments…
but learning how to hold yourself through them.
