Anaphylaxis can progress rapidly—and epinephrine should be administered promptly when a serious allergic reaction is suspected.
Possible warning signs include:
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Swelling of the face, tongue or throat
• Widespread hives
• Sudden dizziness, weakness or collapse
• Symptoms involving more than one body system
First aid training helps people recognize the emergency, assist with epinephrine and activate emergency medical services.
Confidence comes from preparation—not from trying to remember what to do during the emergency.

Canadians now have a needle-free option for treating anaphylaxis.
Neffy® is an epinephrine nasal spray authorized by Health Canada for adults and children weighing 30 kg (66 lb) or more.
It is intended for immediate self-administration—or administration by a caregiver—during a serious allergic reaction.
Epinephrine remains emergency treatment. After it is administered, follow the person’s emergency plan and contact emergency services.
