⌛6 Weeks to Healing🌱

These photos were taken just 6 weeks apart.

The first set of pictures shows the change from April 15th to June 1st. Ok the snow was a little dramatic but gee whiz... it was the middle of April for crying in the sink!!! The snowy, cloudy landscape to lush greenery and blue skies looked kinda fake so I made sure I did a true '6 weeks apart' comparison and the rest of the pictures are from April 20th to June 1st.

I think we already know how amazing nature is but when I see these pictures side by side... it still leaves me in awe!

Brown, dead grass becomes vibrant green.
Tiny buds become leaves.
Dormant plants spring back to life.

Nature doesn't force it. Nature doesn't rush it.
It simply responds when the conditions are right.

And isn't that exactly what healing looks like?

When we talk about healing at The Breath Connection, we often mention that many injuries, surgeries, and chronic pain in the body can take about 6 weeks to heal. Yet when you're the one doing the healing, six weeks can feel like a very long time. You focus on what still hurts, what isn't working yet, or how far you still have to go.

Nature offers a different perspective.

This transformation didn't happen overnight. It happened one sunny day, one rainfall, one degree of warmth at a time. There was growth happening long before it was visible. Beneath the surface, roots were waking up, buds were forming, and life was preparing to emerge.

Our bodies are much the same.

Healing isn't always dramatic from one day to the next. It's often a series of small changes that quietly build upon each other. A little less pain. A little more movement. A slightly better sleep. A little more energy. Progress that can be hard to notice when you're living it every day.

But when you zoom out and look at six weeks instead of six hours or six days, the changes can be remarkable.

If nature can create this kind of transformation in just six weeks, imagine what might be possible for your own healing when you provide the right conditions!

Did you know the average person takes approximately 20,000 to 25,000 breaths every day?

That's over 8 million breaths a year! Holy doodle!

Breathing is the one thing you do more than anything else in your lifetime.

Yet many of us unconsciously hold our breath when we:
➡️ Stand up from a chair
➡️ Climb stairs
➡️ Bend over
➡️ Lift something heavy

When breath stops, movement often becomes harder, tighter, and more painful.

At The Breath Connection, we teach a simple concept:
✨ Breathe - restore the flow
✨ Observe - change the story
✨ Apply - support the healing
✨ Love - become the solution

Sometimes the first step toward feeling better isn't moving more... it's breathing through the movement you're already doing.

💚 Breathe. Move. Heal.

Give us a follow if you are intrigued by this concept ... we post more pointers like this and more!

Have you ever noticed how the habits you most want to change seem to fight the hardest to stay? 🤍

Many of our habits are actually nervous system responses designed to help us feel safe, comforted, or relieved. Over time, our body learns these patterns and repeats them automatically because familiarity feels safe… even when the habit no longer serves us.

✨ The beautiful news?

If our nervous system can learn old patterns… it can also learn new ones.
~ Not through force
~ Not through shame
~ But through awareness, compassion, and small repeated shifts

Maybe healing begins not by fixing ourselves… but by listening more deeply to what our body has been trying to tell us all along 🧡

A lot of people think staying mobile as we age requires a gym membership, an intense workout program, or hours of exercise every week.

But mobility is often built in much simpler ways.

A walk through the woods.
A short hike with a friend.
A stroll around the block after dinner.
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

Small moments of movement add up.

Every step encourages blood flow, lymphatic flow, balance, coordination, strength, and confidence. More importantly, it reminds your body that movement is safe and natural.

Healthy aging isn't about becoming an athlete.

It's about maintaining the freedom to do the things you love—playing with grandkids, tending your garden, exploring new places, carrying groceries, or walking your favorite trail without fear or limitation.

Mobility isn't built in the gym. It's built in moments like these.

The path to healthy aging is walked one step at a time. 🌲👣💚

✨New Blog Post Out Today!✨

Have you ever been part of something you deeply believe in… but didn't build all of yourself?

That's me and Functional Healing. Marnie is our breathwork and rehabilitation expert. Debbi brings it all to life technically with a touch of magic sprinkled throughout and a lot of emojis. And I, Liesl, bring my love of essential oils, plant medicine, and the fascinating world of how our thoughts and emotions shape our physical health.

But I'll be honest, for a recovering A-type who has always been the one in charge… sitting in the passenger seat has been a whole growth experience. 😜

I wrote a blog about what it really means to contribute when you're not the expert. About what three very different women can build when they each show up as themselves.

I think a lot of you will relate. Head to the link below ⬇️ to read it and let me know in the comments if you've ever felt this way too. ❤️

Everyone talks about the cherry blossoms in the Lower Mainland… 🌸

But up North, the flowering crab trees are having their own breathtaking moment.

For a few short weeks every spring, they burst into vibrant pink blooms that completely transform the landscape.

The petals dance in the wind, the bees hum with excitement, and everything feels just a little softer… a little lighter… a little more alive. 🐝✨

At The Breath Connection, we talk often about slowing down long enough to actually notice life.

The beauty. The breath.

The tiny moments that help regulate a nervous system that’s been running too hard for too long.

Standing beneath a flowering crab tree in full bloom almost forces you to pause. 🌿

To breathe deeper. To soften your shoulders.

To remember that healing doesn’t always happen in dramatic moments.
Sometimes it happens quietly… while pink petals fall around you like spring snow.

Nature is medicine in ways we are only beginning to remember. 💕

🛣️🚗 ROAD TRIP!! 🗺️📍

I recently returned home after a week of travel.

In total Doug and I spent approximately 26 - 28 hours in the truck over 7 days!

I LOVE road tripping… but my neck was not quite as jazzed about that many hours in a vehicle!

Neck pain began to:
● wake me up in the night
● alert me when I spent too much time video editing
● hamper my ability to haul, lift and dig in my yard
● restrict shoulder checking while driving

For a day or two, I did what we all do… I tried to ignore it and hoped that it would go away on its own. By day three, I became fully aware that my neck was feeling progressively worse and it was time to apply some Functional Healing to the situation.

Please click the link below to read this week’s blog post where I walk you through the step-by-step tools and techniques that I used to get my neck feeling better in just 8 days!

Happy spring, sweet friends 🌷☀️

I’ve been asked lately: “What was the hardest part of creating your Functional Healing course?”
Surprisingly… it wasn’t the tech, the filming, or even learning new platforms. It was learning to be kind to myself while watching myself on camera.

What I’ll lovingly call “The Ass Incident” 😅 became an unexpected turning point—an invitation to soften my inner dialogue, embrace aging, and remember that sharing something meaningful matters more than chasing perfection.

So here’s your gentle reminder (and today’s functional healing tip):
✨ Breathe into where you feel tension
✨ Let your exhale travel all the way down your body
✨ Offer yourself the same compassion you so easily give others

You are allowed to take up space, to grow, and to be seen—exactly as you are 🧡

And if you’ve been curious about our Functional Healing course, read this week’s blog at this link: https://thebreathconnection.ca/post/what-was-the-hardest-part

✨New Blog Post Out Today✨

I am back! It is Marnie!

It feels so darn good to be writing a blog again! I have been buried deep in course creation and video editing… working my buns off to help get our ‘Functional Healing Course’ launched into the world!

It has been a life changing journey… working on this project with Liesl and Debbi, and I would like to use our blog, over the upcoming weeks, to write about some of the lessons and surprising outcomes that I experienced over the past three years of creation.

Let’s start by answering the question - Who the Heck is Phyllis? - and then work our way to a functional technique that makes you feel much better after too much sitting!
