Roberta Jane Castle
Sept 30, 1961 - April 08, 2026
Roberta “Berta” “Bert” Leblanc (née Castle) passed away on April 8, 2026, in Prince George, British Columbia, at the age of 64. She was born on September 30, 1961, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Roberta was predeceased by her parents, Robert Geoffrey and Violet Doris Castle, as well as her nephew, Liam Castle. She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Chris Pitts; her sons, Jeremy Lively (Sarah) and Tyson Leblanc; her cherished grandsons, Jack and Miles Lively; her brother, Linton Castle (Lou); and her niece, Regan Castle.
Born at Grace Hospital in Vancouver, Roberta spent her early years in Kerrisdale on the city’s west side before moving to West Richmond. From a young age, she was happy, curious, and outgoing—someone who made friends easily and brought laughter wherever she went. She enjoyed family ski trips and camping adventures, and during her junior high years, she played volleyball. In the early 1980s, she played a small but memorable role in helping recruit players for the very first women’s rugby team at the Richmond Rugby Football Club.
Roberta grew into a vibrant and beautiful young woman, known for her kindness, generosity, and the lasting impression she left on everyone she met. A true free spirit, she often walked her own path and was living independently by her late teens.
She became a devoted mother in her early twenties with the birth of her son Jeremy, and later welcomed her son Tyson. Roberta worked hard to raise her family and was known as a wonderful cook and a welcoming presence—not just to her own children, but to many neighborhood kids who found comfort in her home.
Her professional life began in sales, where she excelled in both residential retail and commercial wholesale lighting, later transitioning into cosmetics sales at the Hudson’s Bay Company. In time, she found her true calling in building a successful dog daycare business. This venture became far more than a career—it offered her purpose, healing, and a sense of peace. Surrounded by dogs and a community of like-minded individuals in Tsawwassen, she found connection and belonging.
Within that community, Roberta met her partner, Chris, who shared her passion and offered unwavering love and support during the final decade of her life as her health declined. Together, they eventually relocated to Prince George, where they rebuilt both the dog daycare business and the close-knit community they treasured.
Roberta will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished.
