Niels Aage Nielsen
September 6, 1937 – May 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Niels Aage Nielsen on May 20, 2026, in Canada, at the age of 88.

Born in Denmark, Niels came to Canada as a young man and built a life centered on hard work, family, laughter, and service to his community. He was predeceased by his sister Aase and his son Gary, with whom the family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited once again.

Niels is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Maureen; his sons Roy (Trish) and Wayne (Glenda); and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him endless joy and pride.

He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Megan, Morgan, Jillian(Dan) Amanda(Forrest), and Joy(Clayton), as well as his great-grandchildren Lily, Ariya, Alita, Raine, Adrianna, Hunter, Jarry, Rosie, and Revel.

Known affectionately by some as "Mr. Perfect," Niels adored his wife and enjoyed many years of square dancing. He loved to play with and tease his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always keeping those around him smiling with his quick quips and jokes. Even during his declining years, he continued to face life with courage, humour, and grace.

Niels also dedicated more than 25 years of service as Fire Chief of Hixon, a role he carried with pride and commitment to his community.

May he now sit with Odin in the great hall of Valhalla.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the hospital staff, hospice staff, and Dr. Zhang for their compassion, care, and attention during Niels' final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House in Niels' memory.

Cole Jackson Kennedy
October 13, 2003 – May 12, 2026

It is with unimaginable pain and sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful son, Cole Kennedy, who left this
world far too soon at only 22 years old.

Cole is survived by his loving parents, Steve Kennedy and Cora-Lee (Bob) Cutway; his sister, Kayleigh Kennedy; his
grandparents, Moira Kennedy, Neil (Anne) Bilodeau, and Lorraine Bilodeau (Dave Laboucane); as well as many aunts,
uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply. Predeceased by grandfather, Norman Kennedy.

Cole was funny, sarcastic, and incredibly witty. He had a sharp sense of humor, a quick comeback for everything, with
absolutely no fear of speaking his mind. He could make people laugh without even trying, and his personality was
impossible to forget. He was the kind of cute that made people notice him instantly and comment about it to his parents—
but those who truly knew him will remember so much more than that.

Everyone who knew Cole knew his love for animals was undeniable, especially dogs. He shared a special bond with them
and found joy in every walk, adventure and moment spent with them. He leaves behind his loyal companion and best friend,
Ducky.

Though Cole’s life was far too short, the love people have for him is immeasurable. His loss leaves an emptiness that words
cannot fully describe, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
The family would like to thank everyone for the love, support, kindness, and generosity shown during this incredibly
difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cole’s memory to The Prince George Humane Society in honor of his deep love
for animals.

Wilhelmus (Bill) van Helvoirt
September 16, 1950 – April 28, 2026

Bill passed away peacefully while surrounded by family, at the age of 75
on April 28, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Predeceased by his parents, Johannes and Ortje, brother Adrian and
sister Irma, Bill is survived by his son Lance, sister Marjo (Reg), as
well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins both in Canada and The
Netherlands, including his aunt and uncle, Tante Lies and Ome Cor.

Born in Arnhem, Netherlands, Bill’s parents immigrated to Canada in
1958, settling in Edmonton before eventually moving to Prince George. He
worked a long career with School District 57, helping keep its
facilities maintained across the district. Bill was extensively involved
in the local sports scene, as a flagman with the Prince George Auto
Racing Association (PGARA) through most of the 1990s and in various
roles on the officiating side of the game with the Prince George Minor
Hockey Association (PGMHA).

Bill’s time given to PGMHA from the late 1970s to 2016, in his
officiating roles, was immeasurable. He officiated countless hockey
games, both locally and in other towns in the region, and spent even
more hours and days mentoring young officials to do the same as both a
supervisor and Referee-In-Chief.

Bill always remembered where he was from, travelling home to The
Netherlands several times to visit family, with whom he also spent many
weeks and months with on several vacations on both sides of the ocean.
In retirement, Bill could often be found having a beer at the BX Pub
with friends from all his walks of life.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Cariboo
Room above the Black Clover (1157 5th Avenue, Prince George, BC) from
12:00 – 4:00pm with remarks to take place at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Bill’s memory to the Prince
George Hospice Palliative Care Society.

Roberta Jane Castle
Sept 30, 1961 - April 08, 2026

Roberta “Berta” “Bert” Leblanc (née Castle) passed away on April 8, 2026, in Prince George, British Columbia, at the age of 64. She was born on September 30, 1961, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Roberta was predeceased by her parents, Robert Geoffrey and Violet Doris Castle, as well as her nephew, Liam Castle. She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Chris Pitts; her sons, Jeremy Lively (Sarah) and Tyson Leblanc; her cherished grandsons, Jack and Miles Lively; her brother, Linton Castle (Lou); and her niece, Regan Castle.

Born at Grace Hospital in Vancouver, Roberta spent her early years in Kerrisdale on the city’s west side before moving to West Richmond. From a young age, she was happy, curious, and outgoing—someone who made friends easily and brought laughter wherever she went. She enjoyed family ski trips and camping adventures, and during her junior high years, she played volleyball. In the early 1980s, she played a small but memorable role in helping recruit players for the very first women’s rugby team at the Richmond Rugby Football Club.

Roberta grew into a vibrant and beautiful young woman, known for her kindness, generosity, and the lasting impression she left on everyone she met. A true free spirit, she often walked her own path and was living independently by her late teens.
She became a devoted mother in her early twenties with the birth of her son Jeremy, and later welcomed her son Tyson. Roberta worked hard to raise her family and was known as a wonderful cook and a welcoming presence—not just to her own children, but to many neighborhood kids who found comfort in her home.

Her professional life began in sales, where she excelled in both residential retail and commercial wholesale lighting, later transitioning into cosmetics sales at the Hudson’s Bay Company. In time, she found her true calling in building a successful dog daycare business. This venture became far more than a career—it offered her purpose, healing, and a sense of peace. Surrounded by dogs and a community of like-minded individuals in Tsawwassen, she found connection and belonging.

Within that community, Roberta met her partner, Chris, who shared her passion and offered unwavering love and support during the final decade of her life as her health declined. Together, they eventually relocated to Prince George, where they rebuilt both the dog daycare business and the close-knit community they treasured.

Roberta will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished.
